Re: ice fishing near Reeve Craig Launch?

Guys that fish the Creek mouth drive through the Howard Ferguson Nursery in Kemptville. To get there from 416, take 43 west and turn right down a road across from the M&M store. Just follow the road to the end and you will come to an access point. It's up to you if you want to drive on but many ...

Re: ice fishing near Reeve Craig Launch?

From the Reeve Craig launch you will see a cluster of shacks to the southwest. These are shacks at the mouth of the Kemptville Creek; a very popular spot. I would suggest walking out from launch and finding the break line from 7-10ft and making holes along it. The walleye in the Rideau have generall...

Re: 2013 Kemptville stocking report

Rob; Like I said in my original post this area was my playground for many years. My father belonged to a hunt camp up there and after he passed I hunted out of it as well. I witnessed many infractions in this area over the years ... over limits, too many lines (both summer and winter), out of season...

Re: 2013 Kemptville stocking report

Rob; I in no way am trying to take away from the great work that the FMZ panels have accomplished and will accomplish in the future but the extended bass season has been lobbied for, for many years. It's a good thing for our warmer waters but I fear that the St. Lawrence fishery will suffer because ...

Re: 2013 Kemptville stocking report

The area north of Ompah was pretty much my playground in the 70's, 80's & early 90's. I fished and hunted it extensively. Have seen many changes good and bad...mostly bad in my opinion. I don't get up that way near enough anymore but will be trying to change that in the future. A lot of the litt...

Re: In the market for a new fish finder for ice fishing

I bought the Elite 4 and have been using it for a little less than a month. It took a little tweaking but now think it is a great tool. I have used it right next to both a Vex and a Bird with no problems. So far I have only used it for walleye fishing on the Rideau but I can easily see the bottom hu...

Re: Lake trout frustrations

We were out on Big Rideau Saturday and went 8 for 14 on the lakers with an average size of about 3 lbs. BR has been pretty consistent for us this year. My best advice is to forget the gang trolls and flashers and stick with a straight spoon about 40' back from the ball. I find that the lakers do a l...
