Side Cutters

A cheap pair of side cutters will cut braid ok. A good pair of side cutters will cut braid and anything else that fits in the jaws! My Side cutters once came in handy to cut a 4/0 Owner hook that I stuck through my hand!!

jon boat for duck hunting and carrying 4 wheeler

I'm looking to buy a jon boat to use mostly for duck hunting, but I also need to be able to carry a 4 wheeler occasionally on small calm water bodies. I would like to hear any experiences or suggestions people might have in regards to jon boats (good or bad). I am leaning towards a welded boat but w...

Hi Devy, I bought a Pricecraft 178 with a 115 Optimax then towed it for the first two seasons using a Ford Windstar without a single problem. I towed over 30,000km all over eastern ontario with a few trips to Simcoe and Lake Erie and always managed to find a good concrete ramp. It also towed well ev...

I have a 178SC SE Princecraft with a 2006 115 optimax. I run a 13.25 diameter by 17inch pitch aluminum prop. WOT RPM is 5650, top speed 43mph (gps). Good hole shot when pulling the kids on the tubes. I borrowed and tried a Stainless Steel 17p 3 blade and there was no difference in performance. I hav...

I was talking to a guy last year that was towing a 21ft triton bass boat with an Escape and he told me that he never had any issues. Not sure the year of the vehicle but it was his second season with the boat...

some Home Hardware stores also thread pipe.... you can also buy a cheap threader kit at Princess Auto (pg260 of the catalogue, item #8246514, for $34.99) and do it yourself... or as someone else suggested you could go to a plumbing/heating shop and have them do it, anyone that's not a crook would do...

I have the Hummingbird 997SI on my boat. As the above post mentioned it is easy to use, and the side imaging is a good feature. I found the side imaging very usefull in deeper water. I did however have some reliability issues with it. I had problems with it freezing up, and had problems with the SD ...

I have a MinnKota Maxxum Pro on my Princecraft. It's a 80lbs thrust with 52" shaft. It has lift assist shock which makes it easy to lift & lower. It's a good strong motor. I would however go with a 60" shaft next time for a deep aluminum boat on windy days and maybe even the 101lb thru...

My policy is for twelve months, but there is a layup clause that states the boat must be out of the water from Dec1 to March1. This was the shortest layup period that our broker could find for us. The broker has informed us that the layup policy could be waived if we supplied the company a written n...

Just a reminder for those trying to extend the season as much as possible, check your insurance to see what the lay up period is. I just found out that the boat is not insured on the water past Dec1 even though I thought I had paid extra for "late season coverage"

The Jiffy in my books is hands down the most durable and reliable. I've had Eskimo and Husquavrna and seem to always go back to the old Jiffy.

If cost was no concern it would be a toss up between Chev Suburban or Chev Duramax (Black and tan to match boat).
Reality,'02 Ford Windstar (Blue) with 200+k but works well, I towed my 17foot Princecraft over 15000km last summer and no problems (must of got lucky)!!!!
