Look into Okuma rods! Their top end baitcasters are under your price of $150, and while they have the same action, lengths and strength of companies like St. Croix, they come with lifetime warranties, which is about 70 years longer than St. Croix... I have a Fenwick HMG that I love, but it broke las...

Because I use braided line, and I am always concerned about ripping hooks out of the fish's mouth, I always set the drag just tight enough that it will not come out at trolling speed. If I hear a click from the drag every 30 seconds, then I know that it's loose enough. After a fish hits, I tighten i...

I haven't been for a few years, but a couple of possibly useful tips include fishing for walleye by the channel markers/rock off of Scotsman Point, and for muskie, we've had our best luck with smaller lures (in the summer anyway...), like 6 inch baits rather than the 13 inchers we use for Georgian B...

I picked up a decent rainbow with a holographic/blue rebel minnow last spring, longline trolling in about 12 feet of water, in Georgian Bay near Wasaga. The non-jointed ones are very subtle, wnich seems to be great for cold water use. I haven't used the jointed, but they must have a fairly good acti...

THANKS GUYS!
Thanks for the hints boys. I just picked up 5 Stinger Scorpion spoons in a variety of colours off of e-bay for $16 US, including shipping. Hope they work as well as I think they will!
Cannot wait for the open water season!

Spoons for Walleye
Hey guys, Have any of you had much luck trolling spoons for walleye? Guys out of Lake Erie seem to be beginning to use them a lot, and I've got a couple of questions: 1) What size/type/brand to use specifically for Walleye. 2) What set-up to use? (P.Boards and snap-weights???) 3) Wouldn't it be a gr...

Hey Baz Fish, I too was a huge fan of the in-fisherman show, and was upset when I could no longer get it. I was up relatively early (and not fishing) about a month ago, and saw it on TV at 6:30am Saturday, on CTV. Check your listings, but if I can get it with basic cable everyone should be able to. ...
