I'm heading to TI one week from today? How much does water temperature factor into where/how deep you fish?

When I get some "action" on my Record, I'll let you know how well they perform. Thanks for the link to Mikes.

Painter You're right about the scent business. I leave my hockey equipment in my garage after a game to dry out. I would say Koho has rumaged through my hockey bag six different times to find my mouthguard and chew it up...including a $150 piece that I had custom made after I got my front teeth knoc...

Guys

I fully subscribe to the theory that if a dog chews on some item, it's my fault for leaving it around where he can get to it. The reel can be fixed. This is my 4th lab and I've lost numerous items to the other three.

Scott is right...now I get to go back to BPS!

I think he's mad at me because I don't take him fishing. He whines too much. All he wants to do is jump in the water.

Now if he could find fish for me that would be another story!

My dog ate my new Fishing Reel! (pic)

True story. Went to Bass Pro Shops on Saturday and bought a new Ambasssadeur "Record" reel to use for pike and stripers. I took it out of the box and placed it on my dining room table. I came home yesterday to learn that my black lab Koho (the hockey company not the salmon), had grabbed th...

All three answers provided me with information I can use. The 1000 Islands area has so many shallow to deep dropoff areas it's hard to deternine the best area to fish. I like McQ's point of staying out of the current and bassmasta's recommendation about the bass-pike relationship (is that true for b...

Fishfinder/Pike Fishing

All

I fish for Pike in the Thousand Islands area. Typically I fish in less than 10 FOW where a fishfinder is not needed. However, when the pike are not in the shallows, do any of you use a fishfinder to locate Pike in deeper water? How about using a fishfinder to locate baitfish?

BigJoe2 I fish all the shallow bays around Grindstone and Wellsley Islands, concentrating most of my time in Eel Bay. I made the trip 2 years ago in mid-May. Two full days of fishing led to only one smallie. Last year my buddy and I went the 3rd week in May, much better success over 3 days with abou...

Pike Lures

1st time poster here.

I only fish for pike in the Thousand Islands area in late May. With all the bullhead that spawn up there at that time, do any of you guys use a bulldawg or Salmo Bullhead crankbait?

If not...why not?
