Made the trip this past weekend. A great walleye "chop" was in our favour but only managed 1 eye around 6.5 lbs. Warm weather & clear water seems to be delaying the fall migration so we had to travel quite a ways out the "reach" before marking fish. Can't wait for cold weathe...

Pike busters on the Ottawa today{ no pics }

Left my dock at 6am , dad & brother on board. By 10am we had 3 largemouth, but then the pike turned on. Off the water by 1pm & boated 14 pike, all from 3 - 5 lbs, nothing huge but loads of fun. Sorry no pics still using 35 mm. :oops:

Hi Pints, we fished the Ottawa from Treadwell to Lefaivre over the long weekend also. Water was quite stained. Tube jigs in weed beds produced some nice smallies but no pike. Cooler temps this week will help also, keep on casting !!!!

Congrats on your new toy, sometimes if you push in on your key while starting, your choke will automatically be activated & cause flooding. As far as Silver Lake, early spring after ice out has produced for lakers. Jigging at those depths has never been productive for me. Good luck!

Hi Sportspal, turning over any motor too long may cause flooding. My 90 hp 4S does the same, if it doesn't start immediately, wait a few minutes. As far as Silver lake goes, I have had success only after ice out for lakers when they are shallow. Have tried jigging may times & downrigging but nev...

I like berkley big game 20lb with 12lb fluocarbon leader on both rigger & dipsey rods. 20lb handles the boards nicely. Also saves respooling by just changing leader test.

Thanks for the update Superdad. The clear water is very deceiving, kinda' makes you keep an eye on your sonar. If the honey do list isn't to long Saturay, perhaps we'll meet on the water.

The Rouge river has a great fishery. Being raised near the river as a kid, trout fishing was second nature to us. Starting from the settlement of Rivington to the mouth of the river at Pointe au Chene, there are many rapids , chutes, falls & eddys that all produce. Since white water rafting comp...

Electric steering for kicker motor.

My kicker motor is a 4hp 4s Honda & needs to be mounted on a hinged bracket. Does anybody use the electric steering box with hand held control { hardwired }, instead of linking to the main motor? Other than the fact of having something else to trip over is there any pros & cons to the unit. ...
