Finally.....

My goal this winter was to catch a lake trout through the ice. It took a dozen trips and there was a bunch of anguish 3-4 weeks back when a good one snapped off in the hole but on Wednesday, mission accomplished. https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1.0-9/1461106_1432401440338202_127906...

Re: Daiwa Lexa, Procyon and Ballistic

I don't have a Procyon but I have Lexas, Ballistics and just added a couple of Tatulas (one regular and one Type R). I haven't fished the Tatulas yet but they are all solid reels and will handle any fish you'll catch around here with maybe the exception of a big muskie. The T-wing reels (T3 and Tatu...

Re: Shootout series 2014

Congrats on getting this all put together Cory. Quite the accomplishment.

I won't be able to rumble for a Ranger this year but hopefully it's something that continues on for years (and on different waters). Does the winner get the actual boat or a certificate?

Excellent! You guys run a real good weigh-in and your involvement will certainly help make the 2014 Qualifer go smoothly.

Re: Shootout series 2014

I did 7 events and I thought the end of the day moved along very efficiently. I'm always amazed that all those vehicles and trailers find a place to park. :D

Re: Newboro Lake Boat Launch

I wish there was some smallie porn to offer up but there wasn't really anything pic worthy on the day. Just a bunch of solid 3s and a couple of 4s. It was easy to see why not many bother to venture out onto Big Rideau on cold, windy November days..... :D

Re: Newboro Lake Boat Launch

It was disappointing to drive all that way only to find the launch closed. But having to resort to a boat load of chunky Big Rideau smallies was a pretty good backup plan..... :D

Start one about how everyone else wishes they owned a Ranger. Much more entertaining.

Re: Best Daiwa for Jerk Baits

Maybe a little late to this conversation but I have 2 Ballistics, one of them I bought from biggs back in the summer. Good reels for jerkbaits. They are light, cast a freaking mile and have decent drags. Not hard to spend all day chucking it. I've got both of them rigged with #12 XPS fluoro. I'll st...

Re: BIG BASS Megabucks

Great job RJ and Birdee. Plan A didn't work for us and there wasn't much of a Plan B to fall back on but that's the way it goes sometimes. We really liked the text updates with the current weights and the winning weights for the hour. Saved everyone a lot of time and a lot of gas. Consider me signed...

Re: Boat Launches on Mississippi Lake . . .

At the end of Lake St in Carleton Place is the public launch. Two nice launches and lots of parking. I think it's $7. Put the money in the drop box and put the envelope tag on your dash. They check on a regular basis.

Re: BIG BASS Megabucks

Is the launch/weigh-in area at the Conservation Area or at the marina (Rideau Ferry Marina?) on the other side of the bridge?
