Now something my grandpa told me once and it does work well is try using crickets for panfish...they work very well but i do not know why??? You can pick up a bunch of them very cheap at pet stores that have reptiles..Give them a try and you will be suprised.

Hand Augers run from $50-$100 dollars and I reccomend an 8" but most on this site say 6" for less work. I say 8" cause you don't want any excusses why one got away. Where are you planning on fishing and what are you fishing for.

Tip-up: From my years of experience larger is not always better. We used to have a shack(more like a home) that was 10x16...took too much to heat and way to heavy as well. Smitty: If you ask me you are in a great central location for lakes with trout...You have Lake Ontario which for a beginner may be your best bet(with a guide) otherwise it is too big to not know where to go..I have great luck in the spring and fall for rainbows...They usually come in to shallower wa...
