Very sad news - Bill McCue has passed away

After an arduous battle with cancer, Bill McCue passed away on Monday 2 September 2013. In memoriam donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation. I had the pleasure of sharing a fishing boat with Bill on numerous occasions during week long walleye trips into north western Quebec. Bill was...

Discourteous or not?

My daughter and son-in-law purchased a cottage earlier this year in western Quebec. The fish species in the lake include lake trout, northern pike and small mouth bass. The small mouth bass population attracts many non-cottage owners to the lake to fish. Although I’m a fisherman myself, I don’t norm...

Re: Best fishing lodge/lake/river for walleye in ON/QC?

Basically we'd like this to be a non-stop fishing action, trip of a lifetime. Take a look at St-Cyr Royal - see http://www.stcyrroyal.com/ While I haven't fished there, it's on my bucket list for "trip of a lifetime". This year will be my fifteenth trip to Lake Kipawa since 2001. While I ...

Anyone with experience with TUF-Line XP

I'd appreciate obtaining some feedback from anyone with experience using TUF-Line XP. In mid Sep, I took advantage of an opportunity to try muskie fishing for the first time. For casting, my host graciously allowed me to use his Curado 301 spooled with 65 pound TUF-Line XP. I was impressed with the ...

Hi Bassman:

A question if I may. I've been walleye fishing via outfitters in north western Quebec (Abitibi/Témiscaming region) for the last dozen years. Just wondering if you would mind sharing what, in your opinion, are the major attractions of Lake Esnagi. Thanks in advance.

Here's a great web contact for asking questions and getting responses about sonar units - see http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforu ... =14&page=1

And for information on interpreting sonar displays have a look at Understanding and Interpreting a Depth Finder at http://fishinweb.com/

OK I'll try to better address your question. I'm primarily a walleye fisherman. And during the day, I usually bottom bounce looking for walleye. Many times, when I spot a couple of walleye hanging out together close to the bottom, I make my pass as usual. Then once I think I've trolled the lure/bait...

I went Friday morning only to see a couple of outfitters I knew would be there. Had a good chat with Sheldon as well. Other than that, there wasn't anything much of interest to me. The Gatineau show in particular and the Carp show have more outfitters - and that's my priority.

Great looking digs!! I'm so happy for Rosie. That big roof clearing job looks like a 2 day job. Enjoy your last few days there because you'll soon be out of paradise.

Bill:

Glad to read that you made the trip into Nemio's safely. Too bad about Ronnie's accident. I'll look forward to reading your daily reports. Perhaps you can report something to help out with cabin fever. Give the dog a pat for me.
