Nice pike! Looks like you had a great deal of success.
And to Adam: Thanks for the tip. I had never heard of that, but will start carrying a towel in the boat.

Re: Looking for fishing spots and tips Ottawa river
Looking for fishing spots on the Ottawa river between the Gatineau river and behind parliament hill and which kind of bait to use. Thanks There a guy who owns a bait shop in Hull, goes by the name of Méo, that will tell you: "c'est dans l'eau que ça ce passe!". I think his point is that t...

Is the ice turning a little gray, at least? Did it look like there was water on top of the ice?

Re: Preventing out of season bass strikes.
I target pike all the time when the season opens. I just move on if I start catching lots of bass. I leave the flipping jigs at home, but pretty well all other lures that you would fish pike with are also used for bass. There's nothing like a buzzbait to target early season pike. I will not stay aw...

Re: Where to go for Lakers in Quebec?
I am glad, however, that most of FH either didn't mention, or doesn't know about, the lakes I go to... ! So, are you just teasing the OP? Come on, fess up and give Mob77 a name lol. There are lots of fairly well known Laker lakes (for some folks) out there, but being new to Grey fishing is w...

Re: Where to go for Lakers in Quebec?
Bah... Take the 10 pounders. They've already been breeding since 5-6 lbs (4-6 yrs old), and until they put in an upper limit on the slot size, it's fair game. I am glad, however, that most of FH either didn't mention, or doesn't know about, the lakes I go to... Go ahead on Pemich, 31 Mile and...

Re: Favorite Conditions
It's going to sound cheesy, but my favorite time to fish is when the kids are with me. My 2 girls are awesome at following instructions and technique, and despite their ages, they see the link between doing it right and being patient and catching fish. ...and they have horse shoes up their butts bec...

Re: Carp Spring outdoor show
I go every year. It's the one show I never miss. I've found that it has gotten better with the years, first because I got into shooting/hunting, second because the firearms became a bigger part of the show. I think it's nice that there is so much Canadian heritage packed into 2 small buildings. What...

Re: Early spring pike tactics
Try and figure out what other species are in the lake, and you should have an idea of where to find them (a little easier, anyway...) What I mean is that pike act differently if its a bass lake than if its a walleye lake. When I'm on a bass lake for pike opener, I tend to hit rocky structures that d...

I caught this too... I hear from everyone who's ever met Dave Mercer, that he is a genuine guy, and just full of energy.
Way to go RJ! 'Twas a great show!
...I'm sure that when Kanye gets back from Florida he'll say he liked some other episode better (...my 2 cents).
