Petawawa river

Rico, You were indeed at the mouth of the Petawawa river where it empties into the Ottawa, from your picture, I know exactly where you were. Next time you're up there, make your way up the Petawawa river near the falls. Pick a spot and fish at the base of the falls. You will be pleasantly surprise b...

Alumettes Island

You're right about the robberies on the Island. I have a cottage near the head of the Island and one on my friend near Leblanc Island had all his tools, Kayak, canoe, chain saw and other items stolen last Thursday. It would be wise to lock up everything and have your neighbours be on the lookout whi...

Joco and all,
The store is indeed located in the same plaza where Green Drake started way back when.
One light West of Moodie drive, and just across from Hooters.
Same plaza as Price Choppers...

Todd & Fishboy, I also had a great time on the Ottawa River this weekend. With my good friend Greg, who, by the way, caught his first (ever) fish on his brand spanking new fly rod. Greg took the fly casting course with the OFFS and did put into action what he leraned. Greg and I were fishing the...

Speckled trout on the Quebec side

I had the pleasure of taking my son (19) and my daughter's boyfriend (20) to my fly fishing camp in Quebec this past weekend for the opening day. We had a blast, the rain held off, just a very fine mist all day and the brookies were bitting like crazy. My son caught his first ever fish with a fly ro...

Gar in the Ottawa

I grew up about one Kilometre down river from Champlain Bridge on the Quebec side. As a kid ( 9-10 years old) I remember my buddy catching one right at the Parc Moussette beach in Val-Tetreau. I will never forget both our faces !! We had caught a pre-historic fish, wow. We ran home so fast to tell o...

need help wt

All kidding aside, I agree with bobfly, a 6 wt. is a lot of fun. I use it the most of all my rods. Sometimes I find my 8 wt. an overkill for the size bass we catch on the river. I just got a 5 wt. that I cant wait to try, I have the feeling she may become my favourite. A good point was also made by ...
