Wow....Don't you have a very courteous way of presenting your opinion. I don't think it's jeleousy for the other fisherman, it's genuine concern for an ecosystem that's getting its wildlife taken away. These bass serve a purpose, whether it's to keep insect population down or spawn to supply food to...

Nice Catches Salar, I love the way those smallies battle on a fly rod. My first fish ever on the fly was a 17" smallie on black wooly bugger and second was his slightly bigger brother on the next cast! You seem to be knowledgable on fly fishing, so I'd like to put this question out there to you...

Salar,

Nice job on the bows. I got a few myself this weekend in Big Creek. That olive wooly bugger is a menace to those fish. BTW, what weight rod were you using there?

keep it reel,

I think it sounds like you want to rub our noses in the fact that you know spots where 100 fish in a day can be caught. Me, I'll be happy to bring in one trout of any size on my fly rod. It will save me the trouble of having to hook and endanger 100 fish in a single day....... Good luck with your bi...

Ganman, You're totally right about the top water bite. Lately I've been slayin' em on top water baits. I'm thinking a nice dry fly or nymphing scheme just below the surface will kick much bass in the next month or so. On the same hand I've had great success with a black/purple streamer, that when st...

Mr Lost, You sound like you already know what you're doing with your gear. I've found bass this past weekend already retreating into the shallows and hovering around holes. I imagine in Thunder Bay they've come into the shallows to fatten up a bit before retreating to their winter homes. The outfit ...

Awesome report Beachburger. I too got my first smallies on the fly about two weeks ago. Oddly enough on the same set-up: black woolly bugger and stripping about 30 ft on a 6wt outfit. I took two in a row about 17" apiece and fought both until I was tired. Nothing beats that fight, eh? I would h...

I was using a watermelon/white Yum Dinger. I too use grubs in the Grand in the fall and Spring. Pumkinseed and cartruese are my colours of choice. I also get smoked with a power bait tube that is 3" in brown and chartruese.

Grand River Report

Hello Hawkers, I finally got a chance to take advantage of some overcast skies, low temperatures and big bite yesterday on the mighty Grand River yesterday. I started got out to my honey hole to find that all of my weighted worm hooks and Carolina hooks were gone. That wasn't going to spoil my fishi...

Cool looking gear there Mr. Yak. I wonder what Joco thinks about it.......

I have a question. What happens if you roll over? I hope all of that stuff is waterproof! By the way, that used battery with resistor load for voltage is genius.

Best fishes and keep it reel,

Nice topic........ I don't think that you can dispute the fact that it has gotten warmer. In fact I think this is probably the hottest summer I can remember, however I don't think it is due to global warming. I have read several essays by many scientiest that are authorities on the subject of global...

Rice Lake

Hello Fish-hawkers,

Has anyone here had an opportunity to fish Rice Lake? What is your opinion or that of someone you know that has been there?

Thanks.

Keep it reel,
