Had some typical November weather.... quite cold. Here are some frosty yaks Saturday morning at the George Street launch in Belleville. Definately a Kokatat drysuit morning. :D http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i244/titowoody/OCTOBER22003-1.jpg Took awhile to warm up, a few hours later still had som...

I am quite fortunate to be around BIG boats while at work. Work out of the Port of Hamilton as a Maritime Superintendent. Once we finish loading or unloading a 25000 MT ocean going vessel I onwind by launching my 75 lb Kayak. As Joco says, kinda cold in December but the St Lawrence Seaway shu...

We took a trip in late 80s to Lac LeGeoulf which is about 15 kms south of the Rupert River up in Northern Quebec. Hydro Quebec had built a dirt road to install the many towers required to bring the power south some years before. This road ran 160 kms due south, where it ran into the highway that goe...

Barbless works for me. In the Brantford Conservation Area on the Grand River it is an MNR reg. I tend to use more moderate action rods with barbless hooks. They are a bit more forgiving when playing a larger fish. As mentioned tension is everything and using braided line with no stretch no room for ...

Survival or Drysuits are great safety items, and comfort. I would dress like I am going ice fishing so to speak.

Such a hard decision to winterize the boat. Last year comes to mind with those sub tropical December and early January days. Had a few buds down this way take their boats back out for that period.

Good heads up on being well lit up. The boats have nav lights bow and stern along with reflective 3M tape on paddles and along the hull. Stands out like a Christmas Tree. Seat on Top kayaks are quite different from traditional Seat inside boats, much more stable and a breeze to re-enter. I did a re-...

I am sure if you check with the local tackle stores you will find all you need. There are a variety of leader materials out there. I use the black nylon coated multi strand 27 lb with A3 crimping sleeves (a crimping tool is all you need). Beauty with this rigs is you chose your hooks and don't have ...

If any are interested to join we are going to the BOQ Nov 16-17-18. We have booked at the Parklane Motel for $50.00/night/2 anglers Friday and Saturday night. Looking at trying the low light bite out of the yaks, sleep during the day. With multiple vehicles we can put in and come out in different lo...

Great looking fish and the Anglers Toque is also pic worthy.

Now that would equate to an amazing Sleigh Ride out of the yak.

Nice Footballs  , fall fishing Smallies at its best. Looks like the Smallie population is a lot more healthy than the Lakers.

Hard water is certainly coming, .

Five rods in your yak, you would look like a Russian Spy Trawler  . Didn't realize la Belle Province had the regs worded as they are. I am originaly from l'Abitibi, pretty hard to have open water after Dec 20. They might have to change the regs with all this warming going on. Cheers tW

If we ever get some rain the Nith is a great drift. Dragging bottom a lot at the moment unfortunately. The Grand would be a good drift out of your kayak Joco or test ride an X Factor. First frost of the year this morning, will get the fall feeding frenzy in full gear. If ever you want to drift...

GRR some of the spots you describe are hot spots for BIG Bronzebacks. I fish the area in a kayak and it is a blast.
