I didn't think that brown bullheads got very big, but I just checked and the MNR regs describe them as being betweeen 8-14 inches. I guess she saw a monster :)

Channel Cat deep in the Jock ?!?

My buddy lives in Munster along the Jock River. The other day his wife was down at the river and thought she was looking at a huge rock ... until the rock swam away :) After flipping through on-line photos, she identified the fish as a channel cat. Is is possible/common for a catfish to be that far ...

Hi redge, I'm glad you enjoyed the story. As it turns out, Roderick was good friends with grandpa. In fact, each year my grandfather, along with his two brothers (Harold and Skate) and a bunch of guys from Campbell River including Roderick, would go snipe shooting. My father was lucky enough to join...

Mystery Fly (aka Puntledge River)

Hi, I would like to share with everyone a fly that is very special to me. The originator is my late grandfather, Jack Hames. There is a very cool article about the history of the fly in "Fly Patterns of British Columbia - written by Arthur Lingren". Unfortunately my grandfather became ill ...

Thanks for the ideas and designs Fish Finder! Do you typically build a base for the tipup or just jab it in the snow/ice?

Homemade Tipups

Hi FH'ers! Having grown up fishing for salmon on the west coast of Vancouver Island, ice fishing is a brand new experience. Does anyone have any pictures or instructions on how to make some tipups? I had my first ice fishing experience last weekend at Shirley's Bay with some worms from Bit's N Bait....

I bought the Garmin 60CSx two hunting seasons ago and it has been awesome for hunting, fishing, driving, and flying across the country ... colour screen, expandable memory, SiRF receiver etc. I've never had a problem acquiring satellites even in thick canopy cover. In fact I was in my basement laund...

Glen at "The Prop Shop" in Stittsville was really helpful. He charges $60 to repair a prop off a 9.9hp (9" blades). PM me if you would like directions/phone number.

Thanks High Noon,

My buddy (Micpik) is at White Lake with a sick motor. He had Mike look at the motor this spring and Mike warned him that the stator was about to go. I guess he should have had it repaired then.

Cheers
