Re: DRAFT FMZ 18 Fisheries Management Plan
I gave that document a quick read when it was forwarded to me by the president of our cottage association. I didn't notice anything revolutionary or any significant changes from the rules in place today. Did I miss anything big?

Re: Just me?
I don't post very often for some of the reasons already discussed. I haven't caught a single bass over 3 lbs so far this year, I was frustrated by the frequent errors when accessing the site (seems better in the past couple of weeks), and having to put your pictures somewhere else and then link to t...

Re: Re-connecting with an Ol' fishin' buddy...
Man those things get big and plentiful when there are no Ocean predators (Orcas, seals, sea lions, sharks, commercial fisherman) to mess with their growth or numbers. My Dad and I fished for 7 years near Comox, BC and never landed a Chinook over 14lbs or a Coho over 9.5lbs.

Re: Long Island Locks - Fishing from the locks?
Parks Canada has a rule about how close to a lock you can fish, I'm not sure what the distance is but it is probably documented online or at the locks themselves. That rule has been around for quite a while but individual lockmasters may not have cared. With the recent cuts at Parks, there have been...

Both marinas at the eastern end of the lake have closed and they used to be the best location to find out about the state of the fishery on that end of the lake. If you are staying somewhere on the western half of the lake then you could stop in at Camp's Bay or Kirk Cove marinas to find out how oth...

Re: Resurrecting Damaged Rods
Has anyone ever bothered to use a pole that has had its tip broke off? I'm not talking about just the eyelet, but the tip itself -- maybe the last 4 or 5 inches? I keep them for use as guest rods at the cottage. We have had at least two tips broken off when a rookie kept reeling in even though the ...

Being an aircraft enthusiast I'm quite jealous. The Lancaster there is only one of two in the world that flies. It's stationed at the Hamilton museum and flies there regularly. It makes its way up here for special events. This weekend was the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The flight pa...

Weigh bag suggestion
My better half installed some grommets in the bottom of one of those fabric grocery store shopping bags and it works quite well as a cheap weigh bag. I keep it wet and just shake out the excess water before zeroing and then weighing.

Odd release
I was out one morning last week annoying the wildlife on the lake* (seems to be my new purpose this year) and I actually landed a 2.5 lb largemouth on the spinnerbait that I was tossing. When I lipped him (or her) the hook did a self release and fell deeper into the fish. The hook ended up straddlin...

I don't have any experience with this dealer but I have to disagree with the above statement. I think negative things like this can sometimes help a business or company. A good business or company could take something like this and use it as an opportunity to turn things around(Look at Toyota and t...

Fernleigh Lodge on Kash is a nice place, I've eaten at the restaurant there a few times. The owner also runs the plumbing business that I use for my cottage.willywonka wrote:Hello Sixstringhack
We are looking at Kash now, it looks promising, as for the Blue Gill we don't keep any of them just there for fun.

I can't vouch for the quality of the fishing, but Crotch Lake and Kashwakamak are both in the area and have cottage/fishing resorts on them. Can you pm me with the location of the bay full of blue gills? I run a kids panfish derby for the East End cottage association and I can always use a few fishi...
