I'm hoping to get a boat within the year as well, was thinking a jon boat also. anyone know how shallow they go? on average, i know it depends on the weight in the boat.

If your doing it yourself, put the fly line on the reel first (leader end first, then your backing until the spool is full. and yes this is a bit more time consuming but its the most accurate way to fill your spool. Was at Pulaski NY today. Water is low according to locals. I bought a 12 pack of white river flies when i was a kid and they all fell apart, i wouldn't recommend them. they're tied really poorly as far as durability goes.

yeah, i'd be interested as well, pike/muskie sounds good, but i'd have to research some fly patterns to find one to tie.
