Hi guys! I would like to come for a day of walley fishing into BOQ over business days.I have all lures (even new Manns Stretch 20+ textured and dying to try them out), planner boards etc ( not new to BOQ). I already winterized my boat. I assume to pay expences. I live in Richmond Hill. We can even d...

Which maps for fishfinder should buy?

Hi everybody! I'd like to buy Lowrance HDS-5 fishfinder. I need to clarify what kind of maps I suppose to buy together to it. I fish in south Ontario. Primary areas are Kawartha Lakes, Simcoe, Bay of Quinte, Geogian Bay. So which maps people are usually buying? Navionics. There are different variati...

Thanks for reply Joco! I did not mean to catch big walley 10 lb like but you can definitely catch smaller few pound ones. You not actually pulling line when your rod is 90 degree to the line. You setup the hook once rod stays in parallel to the line nose down. The most valuable factor in palm rods (...

Best ice fishing line for tiny jigs

I'd like to use this line with marmish style tiny jigs( marmishka ) about 4lb power. I'd like to maximize my rod/marmishka for whitefish and another one for trout and third one for walley. In my mind less diameter is the most important factor because it would allow marmishka to sink deeper or keep c...

Finn bore III auger is great manual one.

It's blades are not flat. It allows to drill faster.

I have 8 inch diameter if large pike bites.

There is no such thing as "proper rod". Each rod should match to lures you used. For palm size rods it's much easier to create live bait presentation with just wrist movement. It's harder to create this action with what you call "proper rods" which are longer and have reel. Of ca...

You can take some whitefish on it.
Keep in mind fish does not have so much energy in winter as in summer. So it can not resist too much. That's why you can use smaller rods.

Smaller rod gives you more byte sensitivity.

Also it's typical to pull out the line itself by hands.

Hi almontefisher/D-mo! Yes Mormyshka is a generic name of small lure in literature. It's properly PRONOUNCED in russian language as Marmishka. Please read this great article http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Mormyshka Note: Properly balanced Mormyshka stays almost horizontally. Not hook down. ...

Hi RJ! I quess my point is. The rod used together with small jig ( called marmishka ) should match to small size of marmishka itself. Otherwise the presentation does not look natural to fish. Keep in mind that winter fish ( read sluggish ) has much more time to investigate the food before digesting....

There has to be a guideline how to use those jigs. I meant sizes, colors for each major fish. The way how you present that particular jig to the fish. What I'm looking for is: How often do lift up you rod (in seconds)? What is the amplitude ( frequency, altitude ) of rod movement? How high from the ...
