Number of lines

I'm sure I've seen this question answered before, but after a search I can't find the thread. What are the legal number of lines allowed when ice fishing on the Ottawa river under an Ontario license? I've "heard" 5 lines (like in QC) are allowed but a review of the Ontario regs tells me th...

Re: Sturgeon Confirmation

Yup, that's a big'un. Would love to see the province allow for a catch and release fishery for sturgeon. I've hooked a few smaller ones in the Ottawa and have no doubt the river holds some large fish which would be a lot of fun to target.

Re: Help to decide if I should buy Lowrance Elite-5X DSI Son

It may or may not be important to you in the way you use your sonar, but you need to be aware of one of the reasons why the Elite series are so cheap. The processors are extremely slow. It can take several seconds for the display to reinitialize when automatically adjusting to depth changes. This ca...

Re: Walleye Time!

This is probably a good time to remind everyone of the new slot limit for FMZ 18. Must be between 40-50cm (15.7 - 19.7 in). Don't want to see any members find themselves on the wrong side of the slot. Good fishing everyone.

DON"T DO IT  You will be sorely disappointed in the performance with a 20HP. Just ask anyone who bought a Legend (like me) that had a great price but a 25 on the back. The boat performed fine with just me in it...but add a partner and you'll be lucky to get it on plane. By the time you r...

Always barefoot when in the boat, temperature permitting. I find I have a better feel for the trolling motor control barefoot. A little spf 30 takes care of the sunburn. I'm also a clumsy sob, so I trip myself up a lot less when barefoot.

Hopefully you got the chance to try one at the dinner table. Stripers are one of the finest table-fare in the ocean.

Don't mean to sound insulting, but are you pressing the + button several times on the remote after turning the motor on? When you switch connections from the foot control to the remote, the motor always starts in the lowest setting so you have to step up the power. The foot control won't work until ...

Going to replace my deep cycles soon in the boat. What product would you guys recommend to treat the posts for corrosion prevention?

A 700 lb seal caught while buzz bombing for salmon on the west coast. Well..."caught" is probably not the right word, unless you consider a long distance leader release "caught"

I "accidentally" 8) shot my sister in the arm when I was a young fellow. The last vision I have of that bow when my dad got home was seeing it fly over the roof of the house.

Nothing wrong with the way you reacted. There is very likely something else going on in his life that caused him to act so far out of character. The true test of his mettle will come when he finds the grubs and realizes you didn't steal them. If he's a true friend, he'll find a way to try and make i...
