I could use some instruction as well. I have a 525C DF which is nearly identical. You would think some of the TV fishing shows would have some shows dedicated to proper use of sonars. Even though "buttonology" is different from unit to unit, the basic principles are the same and I think mo...

I had a Legend 151 Viper which I bought new in 02 and sold a couple years ago. I really liked the boat, but it was seriously underpowered as it only had a 25hp. A 40 HP would give you much better performance, especially with more than one person in the boat, but knowing what I know now, I wouldn't b...

Question about zone 15 regs. I know this has been asked before but I can't find the answer. General Walleye regs for this zone allow 1 fish over 18.1" but the exception for Calabogie Lake (for sportsman license) is 2 over 19.7". So, if I understand this correctly, if I keep 2 walleye over ...

Its just amazing how big those fish will actually get, given the absence of cold weather and with the abundance of good food source.
I've said the same thing about my boss

Navionics charts - confused

I'm a bit confused by the different charts available from Navionics. The gold/platinum series is advertised as covering the Rideau and Ottawa river waterways but doesn't mention area lakes. The Hotmaps advertises coverage of lots of area lakes but doesn't mention the Ottawa or Rideau waterways. If I...

I have a 70 lb powerdrive V2 with the co-pilot and love it. The co-pilot provides tremendous flexibility. For instance, I can stand up on the bow-point (where the motor is mounted on my Lund) to get a higher view of the water, and still control the motor easily with the remote. Or, obviously from th...

Lowrance LGC-4000 GPS Receiver

Has anyone tried one of the new Lowrance LGC-4000 puck receivers with an older model (not HDS) Lowrance sonar/GPS? I have an LMS 525C-DF that uses the LGC-3000 puck, but that model receiver is notorious for failure and I need a new one (they are very hard to find). Lowrance advertises that their new...

Lowrance HDS series

I'm thinking of buying the HDS 7 for next year. Can anyone comment on how well the internal GPS for that unit performs? Do they frequently break lock or are they fairly dependable? Any other comments on the unit overall?
