Ohh the ellusive Surferal has chimed in. Don't worry Surfer, now that you have slammed the Legend Boats, we will ensure that you don't have to ride in one. So with your little paddle and canoe launched I will bid you adieu and see you up in the North Arm of Opeongo when you get there. We are launchi...

No you can camp on opeongo with motors over night. The risk is just yours to take in terms of your boat, but it is legal. You can actually camp overnight with your boat with motor on any lake that allows motors in the park. You can find a list of the lakes that allow motors and what motor sizes are ...

Happy Isle + Algonquin Park + Lures for Lakers

Any tips from anyone on how to fish Happy Isle. I hear it is a great lake and I was just wondering where we should concentrate and what lures are the best for lakers. We have normally gone for Speckles with good success, but laker fishing is still relatively new to us. Or for that matter what areas ...

Thanks for the PM. Looking forward to the trip. With this weather ice out should be early and the trout should be a bit more stabilized by end of April.

Already gone to LeBarons to stock up on lures.

I have not done these lakes before as I have gone to Proux before. Any good advice on these lakes. We were planning on campin...

If you are going to rent a canoe from Opeongo anyway, you should maybe try to trip into the North arm, go into Happy Isle, Merchant and over to Redrock. They are all good lakes and you would get a good mix of Brook Trout and Lakers. Take the taxi up the lake and then maybe canoe back down when you a...

Hello, I live right on the water in Constance Bay and consider myself a fishing enthusiast, but mybe not the greatest actual fisherman. In short, you can catch everything on the Ottawa, I know that Musky is world class if you can get into one, but monsters come from there. Walleye fishing is typical...

I was going to go up to Algonquin Park for the April 34th Opener, but it may still be iced in. Is Muskratt Lake a good bet for lakers?

Need any special gear at this time of year or are they all over the depth levels?

I have only ever jigged for walleye. What set-up do you use for jigging for trout. I figgured that white is the colour. What size jig head do you use and do you concentrate on the rock shoals that hold the trout etc? Should be interesting way to do it. But I have always found a good spoon tipped wit...

Lake Opeongo Opener

Hello All, I am heading out on Opening Weekend (hopefully) to Algonquin Park, lake Opeongo. We try and stay on Opeongo with our boat and motor and go for Lake trout, but we also take a Canoe and head into Marmott, Myra and Little Minnow for Brookies. For Lakers we troll rapallas or spoons. For Brook...

I actually just found a 25 4-stroke Merc with tiller. My legend has a floor and I made my own casting deck, so it has a bit more weight.

I know the Mercury is big looking, but it seems to be fairly good in wieght at 157 pounds.

Does this sound like a good fit?
