Re: Take the dog fishing?

Definitely!!! In absence of a fishing partner, my golden retriever kept me company on many a trip. As a bass fisherman who spends a decent amount of time close to shore (flipping, pitching, etc.), my dog would attract even more attention from shore-bound dogs as we would approach. However, that woul...

Cottage / chalet to rent on Lac-Sainte-Marie

Looking for a nice waterfront cottage (with dock) to rent on Lac-Sainte-Marie for 3 days (weekend + one day) in September. Having quite a bit of trouble finding rentals on that lake (lots in the region but not on Sainte-Marie.

Anyone know of any or got any leads? Backup option is Lac Cayamant...

Nickel taught ME a lesson

I was lucky enough to be able to go fishing both days this weekend with my buddy from Toronto. I had been craving some Gatineau bass action for a while and was torn between Lac Cayamant and Sainte-Marie. We decided on Sainte-Marie as we had to buy QC licenses and l’epicerie in the town of Sainte-Mar...

Prop worth replacing?

Banged up my 12" pitch prop on my 50 HP Yamaha 4-stroke (on my G3 Eagle 16.5' aluminum bassboat). One blade slightly damaged (bend tip) and other cut up pretty badly (but not catastrophic). Lost about 2-3 mph riding home. After 20 years of boating, first time I've damaged a prop this bad (I gue...

Shopping for Senkos

Been in Ottawa for almost 4 years and still don't know a good fishing store other than Le Baron.

Does anyone know of a good store in the Ottawa area that is well stocked in bass lures? I'm specifically looking for Senkos...

Thanks.

Vermont bass

Gotta love Vermont. Early "catch & release" bass season and free, high-quality, boat launches. On this miserable, cold rainy Sunday, I can only think back to May 2-4 weekend and the nice "early season fix" we got to hold us over until the local opener. Nothing huge to write h...

The St-Lawrence has quite a decent number. I caught a monster by accident in Lake Champlain years ago (hit my buzzbait and I thought, at first, it was a muskie). Although I swore I'd rather never hook into one again, I purposely dropped a plastic worm in front of one in about 5' of water in the St-L...

Too late, cousin V, my boat will be parked there all summer - big fish or not!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Christie Lake bass

Anyone fish Christie Lake for Largemouth or Smallmouth bass? Any comments on comparisons with other lakes in the region (like the Rideaus or White Lake, etc...)?

I fished there once and caught a decent number of largemouth (nothing huge but fun) but wanted to hear other opinions.

Thanks.

Browning baitcasting reel repair

A small little screw fell off my favourite Browning baitcaster and I lost that little (plastic?) cap that holds the nut that holds the arm to the reel. Moreover, that "spacer" (between the arm and the reel itself) also fell out and I cobbled it back together with parts from other reels (an...

4-cylinder, AWD Tower

I tow an 18' aluminum bass boat with 115 HP with my Subaru Legacy L (2002). The boat & trailer package weigh just under 2000 lbs, which is the Subaru's limit. The Subaru is a 4-cyl (2.5L) with a tow capacity of 2000 lbs. I have been able to tow quite successfully since I bought the car. However,...

Yes, I'm looking to keep it in the water. 300-400 is reasonable. I'll look into all the suggestions. Many thanks.

Boat docking @ Ottawa valley lakes

I'm looking to dock my bass boat this summer at a lake (or river) at not too high an expense (i.e. its an 18' bass boat not a $100 cruiser...) so the docks in Portland on Big Rideau, for example, would be overkill. I'm not too picky on the body of water as long as its not too far from Ottawa and has...
