Cool, we were in the 16' white cruiser (three of us). I used a white big-O for a while but nothing. A few follows, but no hits. One of my buddies got follows on a white spinnerbait as well...white seemed to attract them but not enough. I like that stretch of the river, it's weird though, goes from f...

Were were fishing at the Ottawa end, near Dick Bell park up to Shirley's Bay-ish?, around the rifle range. We were going for Pike and Walleye. We fished in anywhere from 5-17 feet of water, along rocks, weeds, and any structure we could find. There were some shelves and holes along the way that look...

Slow Sunday on the Ottawa

Went fishing Sunday morning with two buds, but didn't have a very productive outing. Everything seemed pretty slow, maybe from the weather front that was coming in? There was a cool breeze. We got a pike, a walleye and two small bass (all released). Lot's of follows and slashes, but nothing else lan...

Hi guys, Sure, I'll share info on what I was using. The flavour of the day was definitely small/medium size crankbaits, with the smaller versions getting the lion's share of the swipes and slashes, as well as the ones I landed (match the hatch I'm sure, early = small). I was loaded with three rods, ...

White Lake (east end/mid report)

decided to post on it's own... -- ------------------------------- So, just got home from White Lake this afternoon after a good weekend there. Thought I would give a little report on my fishing outings. The weather was a little windy over both Saturday and Sunday, with today being the most calm. I f...

Weekend of fishing

So, just got home from White Lake this afternoon after a good weekend there. Thought I would give a little report on my fishing outings. The weather was a little windy over both Saturday and Sunday, with today being the most calm. I found a few calm bays, adjacent to the main lake channels and tried...

Booya's and LiveEye jigs

Hello boys,

Any one have any luck with Booya Boogie baits or the Storm live eye soft body jig baits? I picked up a few at Baron for the upcoming long weekend...excited to try em out!! I got the 3/8 oz perch style live eyes, and the gold/black & purple/blue Boogies....

I'm heading up for cottage opening this coming weekend as well, so I'll have a report next week when I'm back. I'll be going for Pike and Wally's. Water levels are fine this time of year on WL, you won't have to worry (just keep away from Gull island, west of Kitty Island/town of White Lake end...)....

Unfortunately, ya. I used their online calculator and for my size it comes to just under two pails...seems like a lot, but the volume is decent in there...damn it!

Transom

Found another product similar to SeaCast called Nida-Core. They're a composite company that makes panels and boards for construction. They also make a pourable transom compound with a ceramic component in it, a lot like SeaCast. Price $160 CAN for a 5 gallon pail, for my boat, two pails = $320 + $75...

No, I haven't started the glass-work yet. I'm still in the wood removing stage...working on the transom. The boat is PolyE, and yes I know you have to sand it for the new stuff to bond properly. What I find with most of the other boat-resto websites, is that everyone tends to go REALLY overboard wit...

Ya, friggin' shipping...I love buying from the States, but it can get "ouchy" for the big items sometimes. RobM ~ I hear ya, there is many chemical angles to look at when combining things. Epoxy is volatile compared to Polyester, which is what I would be using. PolyE is more forgiving to w...

Bardern, I've researched SeaCast and really like the product. That was what I wanted to use but after pricing it, it's very costly. Plus, I can't find a local distributer that sells it...so that would mean bringing it in from the States. Not cost-effective with shipping at all, around $500-$600 I th...

So, I picked up the fiberglass product this weekend (cloth, resin, etc) and the plywood, screws, sprayfoam, etc. for the structural work. I gutted the rest of the electrics (wow, spaghetti much?) the gear shift assembly, steering assembly, and removed the motor from the transom. Put it onto a homema...

Ya, getting there. This weekend I'll take the motor off (it's perfect, runs like a top...gotta love them old 50's Ram!) and attack the transom. It's got the typical problems of a 30 year old boat. There is some spider cracking around the motorwell drain hole and rear tiedowns. There is also a good c...
