Re: Choosing the right trolling motor
My father has an older Lund 1775 with a 55lb powerdrive. It does the job on a calm to moderate day. Anything more than 10mph and it is useless. I wasn't going to get into the 12v/24v talk but since its been brought up, it is always better to over power. You will never wish you had less power... As ...

Re: Choosing the right trolling motor
Andy you pretty much listed everything that is on a Minn Kota Power Drive 55 with I Pilot. I have this unit on my Alaskan and love it. We have actually fished a total of over 8 hrs using the electric motor off and on controling drifts and spot lock with no issues with battery power and the battery ...

Re: Choosing the right trolling motor
Thanks for all the awesome advise. That's one of the main reasons I like coming here. Tonnes of experience. 8) After all consideration, I've decided that I want to go with the Terrova 80/US2/I-pilot with 60" shaft. It meets and exceeds all my expectations. The I-pilot Link threw me for a loop a...

Re: Choosing the right trolling motor
Thanks for the help. I'm trying to decide if 55 lbs of thrust and 12V is enough. There's never any more than two in my boat and I don't carry a lot of gear so I'm probably looking at pushing 1500 lbs. I'm also wondering if 80 lbs of thrust is an over kill on my 16" Legend. So far, its coming do...

Re: GPS Installation
If I am not mistaken the GPS receiver is built into the unit. So does this mean you are replacing the current unit on your boat or are adding this unit as well. Having installed several sonars onto my boats, If you need to install the transducer, head unit cradle, power lines etc then yes it is a 3...

Nice to get out for a fish but no luck this time. Next weekend looks like a better time to try it according to the fish calendar. LOL

Fishing at the Kemptville Creek area
I'm headed out ice fishing for the first time this year. A buddy of mine wants to try out his new ice shelter. I want to get down to about 12-15 ft but could use some advise as to what they're hitting on lately. Usually I like the Swedish Pimple with a minnow but hear they've been fond of the Jiggin...

GPS Installation
I just recently purchased a Garmin Echomap CHIRP 75dv (010-01573-00) and would like to get it installed. I'm in the Ottawa South area and was hoping to find someone local. I called a local Marina but they quoted me a price of 3 hours at $105 hour. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for g...

Looking for Log Cabin with fireplace for Christamas
Hi Guys and Gals I'm trying to find a secluded rustic log cabin on a lake with a nice wood fireplace over the Christmas holidays for my wife and I. Would prefer that it be wihin 2-3 hours of Ottawa. I've checked out a lot of different websites but haven't found the right one yet. We would love to do...

Re: fishing report
I went there Sunday evening and had really good luck with the walleye once all the boats left. I used a jig head with a split shad with a touch of worm and cast into 10-12 feet of water. Huge amounts of weeds everywhere from all the boats though.
