Re: Crotch Lake 2014

Nice job, I have only fished that lake once in the south end, we stayed at tumble home lodge. Doing a boat in camping trip there is on my to do list. In the couple days we were there we got some decent bass but could only get a couple of small walleye which were both just below the slot nice to see ...

Re: Albino Walleye?

Just looks like a light coloured walleye, they can change quite a bit depending on water colour surroundings etc. The top pic actually looks like a saugeye. It has a white tip on the tail similar to walleye where that is absence in saugers.

Re: First thing to throw

well I always start bass opener at first light with a topwater popper, to be honest my catch rate with topwater isnt great but its too much fun to pass up. Then as the day progresses I start searching around with my favourite search bait, good old 4" curly tail grub, I like it because I can fis...

Re: Live Minnow Bait

I'm not sure about this, but there was a reg prohibiting the movement of live minnows from south of hwy 7 to north of the hwy. I recall a bud of mine being questioned by a CO as to where he was trapping his minnows. Something to keep in mind or at least check with the mnr to be sure. Cheers I think...

Re: charlston lake walleye

I agree Smitty If the dams were gone they would very likely still be in the lake naturally. Bob's lake walleye stocking doesn't appear to be very successful either which is also surprising. Iam sure habitat loss plays a role but I would bet that it's mostly overfishing that has done in the back lak...

Re: Regs on Walleye

Yup it's a pretty tough slot, I have got some pretty tasty looking 38 cm walleye that had to go back but a similar slot has done wonders for the walleye in zone 17 so let's hope it does the same here.

Re: Poaching?

I have a degree in law but more importantly I have the reading skills of a 9yr old and therefore can interpret the regulations.( and no iam not being a smarta$$ I actually got my 9'yr old daughter to read parts of the regs and asked her questions on it and she passed wi...

Re: Pan fish

They will be shallow and in big numbers because it should be just the start of their spawn. If you find a shallow bay with a sand/gravel bottom you will be able to see them on nests, kind of like shooting fish in a barrel so be responsible with your harvest, unless the lake is over run with them, in...

Re: Report a Poacher

Took his picture and he chased after me, aggressively hitting me with his rod Mav I guess to you assault is nonsense right? No need for cops? What if he had of poked TheDon in the eyes or face? Would it still be a waste of time for you? Where is your line? Even worse, sounds like sexual assault to ...

Re: Italo Labignan

Didnt really see anything worse than whats on every other fishing show, yes ideally have the fish in the water the whole time and the other precautions you mentioned but they also have a job to do and they need to show the fish for tv. As for all the stuff with the fines that happened years ago, mor...

Re: Volcano or a nice clean hole?

while I am prospecting an area I will leave the mounds of chips but once we have an area we are going to fish we clear them off, like others have said you are only making it more difficult to land a fish. And once we leave an area for good we knock them down for safety as well, can't imagine it woul...

Re: Floatation Jacket or suit

If safety is your main concern then go with a floater suit or float jacket. The Striker and some of the other outwear coat and bib combos look sharp, are very functional and have floatation assist added but they are not Transp Can approved because they dont have the required 15.5 lbs floatation. I t...

Re: Boat sank in BoQ

What I don't understand is why it sank. I thought boats under 20 feet were required to be constructed with level flotation. under normal conditions and if the boat is not overloaded and the weight is distributed properly it should float. Even the high end bass boats will go down, I have seen one ti...

Re: Winterizing engine issues

good call and as long as you are using stabilizer your gas will be fine. As others have mentioned check for blockages in the pee hole, might be something that simple. If no blockage and all the tubes are connected best to get the impeller changed. And once you remove the lower unit change the impell...
