I launched in the creek a few weeks ago and I was fine with my 50HP (no tilt). There are a couple of deadheads between the launch and the bridge though! I was going to put a rope on them but it was getting dark and had a boat full of kids...

Pull plugs, spin it over to get most of the water out (ground your plug wires so you don't stress the ignition). Use good gas and get it running as soon as possible.
