If the creek is very small and full of logs and debris and really grown over, then you might want to stay away from lures and casting. Then take the live bait route.
However if it's open enough for casting--ya , by all means, like they say use small lures

Wolfe--you're probably right. If sapsuckers make square holes than that's what it'll be. I just thought from the size of them it might be a pileated.

We see pileateds all the time up there-no shortage of them at all. I see the odd one right here in Kitchener sometimes. and yes--they are impressive!

My New Lucky Hat !!!

Went near Tobermory for the trout opener, trying to catch the elusive creek browns. The water was super high and made for difficult fishing. Even though we didn't catch any , it's still a pretty place. I haven't so much as met another person here on the opener for at least 10yrs. I too, hate the crow...

Awesome post---RJ !!!

That's the kind of fellowship that makes this site and group so special.
Count me in --haven't got much in the way of salmon tackle,--but I'm sure every bit counts.

Anyone have info on MT's car, or how he made out fixin' it-----was thinking of you !!

Far as I know , you have to run the engine with the vent open or it will eventually stop running--it will starve for fuel being that it is not vented.

I think that if you can run your motor with the vent closed-then it has to be sucking air in somewhere.

If you want big pike, take the time to fish Stokes Bay. It's have way up the Bruce Peninsula on the Lake Huron side. Fish the south -east corner of Lyal Island. But don't even bother if you don't use a leader !! http://www.myfishingpictures.com/watermark.php?file=507/3063pike.bmp http://www.myfishin...

What a great idea!!--I think the sizes you chose are about bang on.
Those are nice sized fish for a young lad. And more so than the size of the fish, - it's the memory
