My first brown ever

I finally have something to brag about for this ice fishing season. The pike have been steering clear of me so we tried for something else. The first order of the day was moving the ice hut back home. With some of the crazy weather being forecast for this week, we thought we'd better get it off the ...

My home town, although I've never ice fished there. There aren't that many places that are open for ice fishing in that area. Open areas in the immediate vicinity are the Saint John River between the Trans-Canada Highway bridge (north) and the St-Leonard bridge, although I'm not sure if there are an...

Glad to see nobody got hurt! I'm sure luck wasn't the only thing on your side, you had the presence of mind to drive it out and avoid hitting other vehicles.

Take care of yourself!

The cormorant in the story is the great cormorant of Europe, not the double-crested cormorant we have here. The great cormorant is bigger and stockier than the double-crested, so it can eat bigger fish.

My god you didn't say it was a 2 hour ordeal. If I was more computer literate I may of found a way to increase the font it may of saved me a few minutes. I know  26 pages in total, but most of us here will only fill out one or two of the sections, but still a lot of information. The survey i...

Attention Anglers!!! Your help needed by filling out survey!

There is a study being conducted by Queens University and Mississippi Valley Conservation (funded by Natural Resources Canada Climate Change and Adaptation Program). They have a survey to be filled out by anglers, fish resource businesses and fish resource professionals. The results of this study wi...

We saw those at a trade show a couple of weeks ago. When we looked at the literature, they looked great. I don't know about the action, but I wasn't impressed with the look of the real ones. They just didn't look as realistic as the literature makes them look. (we all know you gotta catch the fisher...

You won't regret starting to use topwater frogs, they're a blast when a fish strikes. I also like the soft plastic frogs that you retrieve quickly, they "swim" at the surface, splash up a bit of water and fish go nuts. Brands like Mann's, Yum, Wave Worm, Zoom, Berkley all have a version.

I have to pipe in for the small retailer here. As a small retailer, I have to deal with distributors for most of my inventory. They stocked their warehouses last winter, at a much lower Canadian dollar rate. I ordered my stuff throughout the year, but it's still coming from that same stock that the ...

Slushpuppy looks like a great choice. But I have to question Andy_L - member since Oct 23rd 2007, 26 posts. He should have a [retty good handle on the pulse of the site. Great to see you getting some help Bobber. What ever happened to the newfie fishhawk? Retire? Marry? Incarcerated? Hi...
