Re: Favourite/Most Productive Baits
I had a hard time putting down a jig or creature bait this year. Also always had a swimbait or chatterbait tied on.

Re: Rod and line advice
For line I personally prefer braid for almost everything, 40lb on lighter casting gear and 50lb for heavier and 10lb on spinning Once broken in you can cast a mile with it. its more sensitive, easier to tie knots, lasts longer, you can spool more, if you get a birds nest it's easier to pick out. don...

Re: Do I have the correct Rod and Reel set up?
Here are two links below I used when starting to put together my combos http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1465964-6-rod-and-reel-bass-fishing-system-reels http://www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1465944-6-rod-and-reel-bass-fishing-system-rods From here i bought and sold until i f...

Re: Do I have the correct Rod and Reel set up?
Like Maverick said you should add a heavy rod for frogs/Jigs. I'd put the tatula 7.3 reel on that rod and look for a slower ratio reel I personally would only like two spinning combos but that is just me i do have a few rods and reels that i'll be selling. was planning on waiting till the spring. if...

Re: Muskie tips
Where is your cottage.
Bucktails are pretty good, i found if you use a smaller one you will get more hits or follows, along with some nice bass and pike.
Maybe speed up your retrieve to

Re: Skunked by crappie again!
I've been targeting rock, gravel/ sand bottom and brush piles with great success in 1-8 feet of water. Water temp was 57. They seem to hit a lot better as the day goes on. Noon almost nothing by 5pm it was non stop action. on a 2.5" white tube 1/16oz. They would hit the bait on the drop. i foun...

Re: A great, low visibility braid?
I like power pro, heard good things about suffix 832, everyone has their personal preference. If your going down to small lines i'm assuming your use light baits so you want a line that's soft and supple. But why 4lb? 10lb braid has a very small diameter with the added strength. A lot of guys will u...

I've never done it, but Linex can pretty much spray any color.
Could also get a thin non-slip rubber mat and paint it, off course not sure how well the paint will hold up. princess auto sells 4ft wide rolls in any length you want

Re: First Muskie
Get out on opener, I've actually had better numbers in the first few weeks of course once bass opens i don't really target them. but they seem to like eating my jigs I actually prefer to throw smaller baits and catch some pike at the same time. Can't go wrong with weed lines Make sure to be prepared...

I'm a big fan of the gambler ez swimmer. (Paddletales Stocks them). I find them very durable, great action/wobble and reasonably priced.

This is tough. Larry - Quality Fish and bunch of different species to fish. plus the clear water is nice. But the weather can get nasty out there Rideau River . Love this place, minimal boat traffic(weeknights only), water is pretty calm, lots of fish to be caught. it one of those bodies of water wh...
