New divisions

I've tried to decipher the maps for my area of interest. Am I correct that White Lake would now reside entirely within Zone 18? Length and creel limits are of no interest to me since I don't keep anything. That's just me. I don't have a problem with anyone else keeping legal fish.

Tow capacity?

Mossman, You did not mention if this will be your only vehicle. If not, your choices will expand greatly. If not, and the vehicle will have to serve as an everyday ride, consider how much time will be spent doing things other than towing. I'd guess 95%. As an everyday vehicle, a 4x4 will be very cos...

Back pain

FF, To quote my favorite "comic," I feel your pain. I had my first back surgery about 15 years ago. I tried chiro. first with mixed results. After about 4 months he put me in touch with an orthopedic surgeon. I was fine for about 8 years. Then another surgery after MRI's confirmed the prob...

The time is fast approaching

Before I get too involved in all things festive, I wanted to wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my Canadian friends. I'm not into ice fishing, but if that's your thing, much success in the days ahead. Perhaps I'll see you on the water in 2006....when it gets warm.

Did I miss a report from the PA guys with the houseboat ?

I try to read the board daily and was anticipating a report from their adventures in the 1000 Islands. Questions were asked and answered but nothing since. I'd like to hear about it.

Evinrude

I've run these motors exclusively for many years. With a little care they're bulletproof - at least in my experience. It seems that each year I have the best of intentions when it comes to winterizing, but sometimes I forget. I think I'll be out one more time before freeze-up, but stuff happens. I'v...

Latest outing

Bunk, Loved the pics and report. Sorry to hear about the accidental hook-up. I've been in that predicament over the years, and am glad I read Homer Circle's article back in the 70's. It has helped me save some companions from pain and possibly more serious injury. Three of these were scalp extractio...

Gas in US

You guys are paying the equiv. of US $3.83/gal and I feel your pain. Last nite down here it was $2.69, at noon today it was $2.99 and at 3PM it was $3.29. My boat has been sitting since I returned from up there in June. It's paid for and I don't care if it ever gets wet again. I have other uses for ...

First big fish

We're nearing the 40th anniversary of my first big fish, and it happened in Ontario - go figure. It had been years since I had gone fishing - long before my marriage. My wife convinced me to join her family on a trip to the Lanark area in Aug. of 1965. I borrowed a rod and reel from a friend, bought...

Kamineskeg

I can't tell you much - it's been years since I've been there. I don't recall any hazards not obvious to the sensible boater. However, there's always the possibility of downed trees and sunken logs coming near the surface. These things happen on most bodies of water, so I'd assume you'd know to be o...

Thanks to all for the info and links. Last year we saw 82 - 85 cents, so you're not doing too bad.

What is the price of gas from Alex. Bay to Calabogie?

My first trip for the year is coming up. I usually fill-up at Alex. Bay before crossing, and always need more while I'm in Calabogie for the week. Sometimes I even have to fill-up on the way back down to the border. The price will not keep me from coming up, but I'd like to have some idea of how bad...

Not getting in is one thing, and I can understand that. Now I get a message that the non-fishing forum doesn't exist. What's with that?

Sort of questions the logic of slot limits, so widely used down here. As always, there are no absolutes in this question.
