thanks Ganman, I will have to give that a try.
@Steve- I didn't end up going to the beverley's tried a few other smaller/closer lakes. Ice was good, fishing was terribly slow...should've tried the beverley's instead

Re: Ice Fishing Set-ups
Using the lightest line you can get away with will generally catch more fish. Specially important with panfishing. x2 My catch rate went up dramatically after I learned to trust 2lb test line (pline flouroclear), much easier to work a micro jig on a light line. Mono was a headache for nearly all ap...

Re: Adding to the ice fishing tackle box
Like others have said the lindy darter is good, I've got walleye and pike on them. Tried other lipless cranks with little success. I mostly use them as an attractor bait or the buckshot rattle spoons and always tip the buckshots with either whole or cut minnow pieces (fresh killed) - get lots of per...

Re: Where to access upper/lower beverly lake?
thanks flips! I called and emailed, hope to hear back before the weekend. You ever go in there in the winter? The website didn't really indicate if it was open/plowed.
Is there not a public launch on that lake? Hard to tell from google maps

Re: Ice Fishing Set-ups
St Croix does make some real nice rods, out of my budget for an ice rod though. I have several frabill combos and they've been great so far with the exception of my new 261 straight line combo, on warranty claim #2 this season  I also got a dirt cheap dave genz ice buster UL combo from prin...

Where to access upper/lower beverly lake?
Hey guys Got family coming up this weekend that want to ice fish. I need somewhere close with hopefully a good chance to bend a rod. I'm in Brockville, looking at upper/lower beverley lakes. I think I heard somewhere on here there's crappie in there? I'm not looking for your hotspots, but if someone...

Re: flashers
I agree with RJ...if you already have a sonar for the boat, get a flasher. I love my fl-18, got it used for $300 and would buy it again tomorrow for $400. Nothing wrong with the lcd's but I'd never give up my vex. Anyway you go you will have a powerful fishing tool. Don't get too hung up on the peak...

Re: Paparazzi'd Walleye....
Great pics, feel like I was there! That ice looks dicey, but I've looked back at some of my pics from first ice and seen that too...hard to see the good ice under the white stuff.

Re: What a way to start the ice season! First Cover - WOW!
congrats on the cover story fellas! Great pics and article :D I'm a fan of the run and gun also. I might add a spud to the list of mandatory gear for quickly exploring the ice and suggest that if using backpacks it might be a good idea to only keep one strap on a time in case you go through, you wan...
