Reel maintenance
So I figured I'd lube up my Shimano Saros reel and picked up some Ardent Reel butter...I started working on it, lubed it all up and now I'm reading that since it's synthetic, it may cause issues with the mineral oil that shimano uses (apparently they don't bond well together and may gunk up) anyone ...

Re: OOS Fish and Pictures
The only time I see a conservation officer even wanting to look at your phone and or camera let alone charge you with taking pictures of an OOS fish would be if they suspect you of poaching and can't nail you any other way. I think this particular law is a tool for the officers and highly doubt it ...

Re: OOS Fish and Pictures
I am all for following the laws, but give me a break, this is excessive if I catch something worthy of a picture, in or out of season, I will take a pic...I won't sit there and abuse the fish, but a quick snap changes nothing as far as i'm concerned...the fish is already out of the water and the str...

Re: Issue with the speed of my new (used) boat
ok so out with the other buddy today we hit 15mph
I didn't get a chance to go solo, because the launch was super busy, but doing 25km/h, I'll be happy and leave it at that
I will consider a different prop down the line I think, it can't hurt
thanks for everyone's help and feedback, much appreciated

Re: Issue with the speed of my new (used) boat
Does the boat plane with you and your friend + tackle in it? I'll echo the suggestion of looking at the weight distribution. Get the weight closer to the back of the boat so you can get the nose out of the water. If the nose stays high, you don't have enough power to get it 'up' and planed. At this...

Re: Issue with the speed of my new (used) boat
14 foot I am just surprised because my older boat (older princecraft pro series) with a 15HP did 23mph with me alone, about 20 with me and the same buddy...it was for sure a lighter boat, but this one has an extra 5HP Thanks again guys, it may just be what she's good for with the 20HP, but worth inv...

Re: Quick Question
Wait, to buy a one year sport license is 28$
how did you upgrade (conservation is 16.46 vs sport 28.89)...the price of the upgrade would of been 12.43$+hst not 28$
I would love to pay the difference and get sport, but everyone I've asked has told me it's not possible

Re: Issue with the speed of my new (used) boat
Thanks for the reply
It's the tiller version.
The boat is rated for 35HP (and 5 people) in the US and 30HP (3 people) in Canada
I will pickup a Tach, install it and report back

Issue with the speed of my new (used) boat
So I recently picked up a 99 Lund Rebel (560 pounds) with a 2003 honda bf20d motor I am kind of shocked by how slow this boat is and unsure how to proceed with resolving this problem logically. When I first got it, I changed the oil, filter, plugs and foot oil...the basic maintenance...it fires up r...

Re: Quick Question
Not sure what they sold you at Canadian Tire, but we can't upgrade a license. You would need to go to a Service Ontario centre to do that, and not even sure if they would be able to. As well, you can fish the Quebec side of the Ottawa with a conservation license anyway. ^Ed's right, but you can't u...

where to launch for st lawrence / st francis?
I've been told there's a boat launch in cornwall (closest launch to Orleans? Or is there one closer), but I can't seem to find any info anywhere on it
Can anyone shed some light on where it is? Is there a cost to park or free? Super busy?
Thanks!
