Re: In need of some help
my buddy was having a hard time getting his 1970's johnson 9.9 2-stroke to run right, and after seeing this thread we figured we'd give seafoam a try...it idled rough and would randomly die, hard starting, etc.. he brought it over last night, I disconnected the hose to the tank, emptied the gas from...

Re: Report a Poacher
I think You did the right thing if we all 'looked the other way', the world would be a much crap place people need to be called out on their wrong actions, if they don't, they'll keep doing it and ruin it for all of us (over-fishing, over-hunting, etc)....unfortunately the fact is, the CO's and the ...

Re: Fishing Ottawa river with live bait allowed?
get comfy, read my novel below, it'll be worth it, I promise...  so last year, I pickup my buddy and we go fishing...he brings minnows, I don't usually fish live bait, but as far as I know it's legal on the Ottawa...so we launch at wendover, and start fishing around the area...not much ac...

Re: Opinions on gear and line setup
First, TGIF. 1) I know that CT is not the best place to be buying fishing gear, but I am a poor lad, so its sale bin for me. I saw they had an Abu Garcia rod and reel combo, reg $79.99 on for $29.99. Thoughts on this product? 2) Now a question about line setup. I have been using snap swivels since ...

Re: Suzuki 10w40 oil - Marine vs Motorcycle
I was just told (by a boat dealer) to stick with marine 10w30's for my honda 4 stroke, and to avoid other non-marine motor oil since they contain agents that may be harmful...they said marine oil between companies is interchangeable too, so evinrude in my honda, or honda in the yammy, etc. I've hear...

Re: Preventing out of season bass strikes.
I think the point he was trying to make is that it is hard to target one without getting the other. One of my favourite pike presentations is a lizzard on a carolina rig, pike love it (I use 80 lb flouro leader). Is it a pike or bass presentation? I'd say personally that's more of a bass presentati...

unless I'm mistaken, they're as much as a pike bait then a bass baitStarTzar wrote: It's a good thing that spinner baits and crank baits aren't bass oriented lures.
vs. a jig, which is known to be mainly a bass lure

Re: Preventing out of season bass strikes.
I have been stopped on the QC side of the Ottawa river (in one of the bays), and they (QC? MNR) specifically asked what I was fishing for, and wanted to check and see what I had tied onto my rods, after checking my fishing license, etc. I was using a spinnerbait, my buddy a crank bait I believe, and...

Where to purchase paper contour/depth charts
Just as the title says, I know a few people have mentioned it before, but I am not quite sure what the best source is for ordering some is/where one goes about that...if it can be done online or local

Re: Missed musky
good luck dude!
I caught my first one this year (few weeks ago), and I went out the week after with my buddy (who helped me land it) and we got him one too!
once you catch one, they seem to be everywhere, haha

Nathan, when you say 'make sure the reel is sized appropriately' do you mean weight / balance wise or is there more to it then that?

finally got a muskie!
so I caught one, finally...only took me 3 years...but it was while I was fishing for smallies, on a plastic (crawfish immitation!), no leader, no swivel, nothing...a hook and a crawfish...go figure... I cast...I had pulled out 2 smallies from the same area...I felt a hit...then WEIGHT...and I mean w...
