Re: Grease for bait caster
Penn grease + 1 Cal's drag grease for drag, and lightweight oil like Boca or Hedgehog for bearings. Abu Silicote reel oil or light grease for the level wind (need to add more often if you're using the reel oil for this part) I've tried a LOT of grease and oil and the above is what I would use for my...

Re: My toys for 2014
I really like double handles on spinning reels, takes the wobble out of the reel and it feels much more balanced! Looks weird at first but it works very well!cndbasshunter wrote:Really like the double handles.

Re: 13 fishing's new Concept baitcast reels.
I've held the reels today. Concept A and Concept C. They are nice reels, solid and smooth. The free spool out of the box is amazing! I'm not sure if these are entirely rebranded Okumas or not, but I'm sure Okuma or its factory has something to do with it. The braking system is identical to the Okuma...

Re: Sunglasses for fishing advice?
Been more then happy with my Oakley Customs. I purchased the Split Jackets, the switchlock interchangeable lens mechanism is an added feature that I appreciate. I can switch out lenses accordingly to better suit light situations. 2-3 weeks delivery, customizable from A to Z. ;) Got a pair of Custom...

what's the best way to clean bearings without an ultrasonic ?
without a Ultrasonic, it's hard to do bearings with metal shields.

Let's talk bearings
Ok, many people ask about bearings and speak of talking bearing upgrades, so I'm going to talk about it. A few things first: 1. Bearings play a role in your reel smoothness, but more bearings doesn't mean the reel is better. 2. Bearings have no role in casting on your spinning reel. 3. There's usual...

Re: Some reels from my collection
The Sol is my favorite. Thanks, it's mine too. It got me into reel tuning and I just can't bring myself to selling it. it started with bearings, drag and then this http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5228/5750966861_43e5b0e020_z.jpg didn't like the Semper fi handle so it went to this http://farm8.staticf...

Re: Reels
In regards to bearings, I find that the Hedgehog Air bearings give a more significant increase to performance over Bocas.

Re: Reels
First off, If so, how do you like it? It is something I have been toying with buying lately, I just seem to like the stock colour better. And does the clear side plate flex at all? In regards to the Alphas Ito, I would like to share some insights. I hope cndbasshunter won't mind 1. the finish will ...

I would personally stay away from Semper-fi
If you want a handle that would take a beating, Hawg Tech is your best choice. My only gripe is the bland styling.
