I purchased a Frabill Straight Line 101 Quick Tip Combo, got it on sale for $29.00, seems to be ok in the cold. I have it set up for panfish with 3 lb line, love that there is no line curl. Not sure how it would do with a heavier line.

I have been using a place in Ottawa for a while , they do a decent job on my Jiffy blades, they might be worth while trying out.

I remember as a kid we fished Dow's Lake. Until the NCC cops whatever they are, showed up one day and told to get the $%^U* off before they fined us. Isn't Winterlude all about winter activities. Ice fishing should be included, just give fishermen an area an rope it off to protect skaters. Hell they...

I have been buying my live bait for years at Manotik , Stittsville and Arnprior, but now Toweys and Stittsville are closed. Tried Petrie Island, but he seems to have mostly small bait.
Does anyone know of a place with in the Ottawa region to get decent live bait for ice fishing?

I do not think there is any other better reason, to share info.
I can still remember when my dad took me out and I caught my first fish. 50 years later I am still enjoying the sport.
My son has just got the bug. Nothing more pleasing then watching a youngster catch their first fish.
Great report!

I signed to protect this and any other areas that can come under the same threat.

Sure did two walleye and a nice pike. The nice thing about it when you spot the fish coming off bottom you can feather the jig to entice them into a hit. Also you can lift the jig to see if they will follow it up. Also noticed some fish were way up in the water colum around 6 ft, maybe pike on the h...

I just purchased an Elite 7 Chirp for my boat this year, so I figured why not try out on the ice. After building my own ice pack and playing around with the settings I was pleasently surprized at the results. I first started with the split screen with flasher and sonar but gave up on the flasher par...
