Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
you are ripping a hookset on em leading to the tail being ripped off. That completely makes sense. Over the years a bass tournament fisherman has drilled in my head the importance of strong hook sets when fishing largies in weeds. I'm realizing that I've started pulling trigger too fast not giving ...

Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
As far as quality of plastics, it sucks that the ones that are the softest and most lifelike are also the ones that tend to get ripped off the easiest. You nailed it right there and this has been my problem... Gambler was the product in question from the start, but I didn't initially want to public...

Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
As for fish easily being able to pass plastics, that's just speculation. .. That wasn't my speculation... Now I don't know how much other research you've done, and there is lots out there, but it seems as you're only basing your decision on a few responses from one thread. so I guess you can feel j...

Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
What are people's thoughts on the Gambler line of plastics? Would this be a good option to try?
Not you Smitty. I only want feedback from people who actually fish and don't just sit in a rocking chair trolling the forum bitter about how their best days on the water have long past...

Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
Smitty - You're critizing me!? So you don't use any plastics then right? I'm using a very popular tournament quality brand that you and many others on here are probably also using. There are a hell of a lot more people out there that are better qualified to make the call. The manufacturer, governing...

Re: Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
Not tossing anything overboard is common sense. This guy was claiming it was just pieces of baits fish had bitten off was killing them. The particular bait I'm using has consistently performed much better than other manufacturer's who make the same bait, so I'm going to need more convincing before I...

Clayton / Taylor Bass
I've been fishing Clayton / Taylor for a number of years now and between us, I found the bass fishing there just awesome. Generally speaking every outing will produce both numbers and size. This year something has changed. In five outing and roughly 75 Largies later, the biggest I've got this year i...

Requesting Feedback on Swim Baits
I was fishing Clayton/Taylor on weekend and a guy came up and asked if we were using swim baits. I said yes. He said well stop, the fish are biting off the tails filling up their stomach's so they can't feed and are dying. He claimed he's opened the stomach on a number of Pike especially to find the...

Re: The ramp at Shirley's bay
Yes, go to the park or sailing club. The ramp at Shirley's has next to no grade. Regardless of vehicle type, I guarantee water will be over exhaust and doors before boat floats off trailer. Backing in and driving off the trailer with anything of size is next to impossible there. I've done it lots wi...

I've seen these at Sail. Works awesome with my Musky rod and same holders that a Musky charter I went on used.

Re: Shirley's bay 2016
I just wanted to share a word of caution regarding Shirley's Bay ice. Yes, there's 10-12 inches, shakes are going up and people are anxious with the late start, but be care with how much weight you bring out. I drilled several holes yesterday and it was 8-10 inches of white ice and only 2 inches of ...

Re: trolling advice
My 40HP e-tech does 4-5 MPH with it just idling in gear, so I'm doubtful that would work for you. I have to use my MinnKota to troll at appropriate walleye speeds.

Re: What's best for fishing? New moon or full moon?
Exactly, I wish whenever I can get out regardless of moon phase or what not. All I know is I regularly have good days on what is supposed to be "bad" and bad days on what is supposed to be "good". I though this past Friday and Saturday were supposed to be good with the full moon....

Re: Hut Break-In: Shirley's Bay
I hope it all works out for you..
Don't assume it was two people on sleds. The MNR were visiting everyone Saturday afternoon on two sleds and they most definitely stopped by your shack to check things out... Hopefully it wasn't them!
