Was there yesterday for some worms and asked if you had any. I'll pick one up next time I'm in.

Re: OCT 4TH BOARD ONLY VIRTUAL TOURNEY FISH & MEET
We won't be able to make it either. I have to take a coaching course to help out with my sons hockey team this year and my only option is to do it on Saturday.
I hope the rain holds off for you!

Re: BOVT PICTURES!!
My oldest started on the same Diego rod :D It works but I would suggest re-spooling with some decent line. You never know what's going to take your bait. I don't recall losing any fish with his Diego rod but his 2 year old brother got an angry birds fishing rod for his bday last month and I didn't r...

Re: Competitors in the BOVT
I just noticed my wife is down as my fishing partner but it's actually going to be my 5 year old son.
The thought of my wife fishing is pretty funny though

Re: new boat advice...kind of
I have my RV in a storage yard in Orleans and there are lots of boats in amongst the RVs and other trailers. Cost is about $50/month and there are quite a few places around Orleans that have these secured outdoor storage yards so that could be an option depending on where you live. We fish out of Oz...

Those are some nice looking fish!
Were the home made lures you used the rope kind I've read about online or did you make something else?

Re: East-end boat launch locations
I know you said you wanted somewhere free but the small boat launch at Oziles (Petrie Isl) has what you want minus the free part :) Depending on where you are and how far the other launches are the cost might be worth it (gas+time vs launch fee) I keep my boat there for the season but I think the fe...

Re: Collapsible or folding net
We bought a small collapsible net from Le Baron this spring. We were looking for something small that wouldn't take up a lot of room in the boat. It completely folds down, hoop and all. It's got an extendible handle as well. They had a bunch of different sizes in the store, I would stop in and have...

Re: Ottawa River Mooneye
We have never specifically targeted them either but caught all ours around Petrie Island from shore with a worm and bobber with about 3-4' of line under the bobber. IIRC, we only ever caught them with our furthest casts.

Re: What type of fish is this?
We caught a decent number of those down at Petrie Island last season and were calling them Mooneyes until someone else down there told us they were white fish. We'll go back to calling them Mooneyes now.
The ones we caught put up a decent fight and my little guy had fun reeling them in
