Always interesting reading when people get technical. I think the ads put out by sonar companies is very misleading; previous posts confirm this. There is a confusion here in watts (power consumption) and watts (sound energy put into the water). It would be much better for companies to use dBm or dB...

Nothing worse than a ruined day on the water due to poor TM battery. I picked up a gizmo from total battery this year, comes with some fluid can't recall it's name. This thingy pings the plates every second or so and helps remove deposits and keeps the battery in top condition. My first thoughts wer...

Re: Fitzroy Muskie Help needed!

I am fishing the Woodridge Classic on Sept 13. However I am told that if you do not know Fitzroy it can be REAL treacherous! Anyone know the waters and wouldn't mind spending a day/morning/afternoon chasing Mooskies??? Last thing I need is a damaged boat! I know structure=fish..but damaged boat=no ...

Every now and then FH gets a heated topic going, and as long as it stays relatively peacefull a lot can be gained. Reading over the posts I think we have been talikng about 2 classes of poachers here; 1 is the group that is after a fish fry, they have always done and don't wish to change. The other ...

I've always had trouble doing a uni in the boat with wet hands and bad eyes. I prefer the trilene knot for fluro. And as for brand - it's Maxima Perfection all the way, never had a problem.

Haven't seen many marine 4s oils out there yet, you need FCW rated oil (Four Cycle Water) I'm still using the Mercury stuf.

Only at Coventry Road I believe - I think the owner likes to fish. As for fenwick - I have had one break, although LBs replaced it I would think twice on getting another.

Hi Gord, been doing some research myself as they do look nice but wondered what you are getting for the price. I've always thought that it is all about the blank and the Backwoods boast a Rainshaddow RX7. This appears to be a moderately cheap blank, less than half the price of a StCroix Legend blank...

Re: Minn Kota/Co-pilot Questions...

Bought a co-pilot last year for the same issues you are having. Are you very satisfied with the co-pilot? Yes Is it very responsive? Yes More so than the pedal and easier to use. Would you buy it again if you had to? Yes Any other info/input....???? You can move around the boat and not worry about t...

I had a 12v 55 PDAP for many uears on a 16', it was okay (just), it would last a day on the water, but if you fish moving water at all then I would go with the 24 70 - it can get you out of trouble quick. I now have an 24 80 PDAPUS on a 17'6" and it's great. Lasts a few days and holds on the Ot...

Seen these things at Fitzroy. I think they are used by Ontario Hydro to drive moorings for the boom in front of the Dam.

Can't speak for Kingston, but J&S are excellent. Take the pedal in and they'll give you another off the shelf while you're there - take your receipt.
