Re: Merc 30hp EFI Issues
I'm no expert, but it sounds like fuel starvation to me. I take all the hoses are 12 years old, you may have an air leak and are sucking air, they can degrade inside too over time. My first thought was the filter, I had a car do that years ago, but I see you have a new one. Go over the fuel lines fr...

Re: Motor/Battery Issues
About a month ago, while fishing the Rideau, my boat wouldn't start on the water. I jumped started the battery using my trolling battery and was able to troll for about 15 minutes until my "emergency horn" went off and my depth finder went blank. I turn off the motor and tried a restart b...

Interesting that the guy uses lowrance when navionics does not support the upload of lowrance logs.

It's actually neither of the 2. Thrust is the abillity to move an object. Thrust is motor torque applied to a prop to create movement. I think, though I maybe wrong, 50lb thrust will accellerate an object of 50lb mass at 1ms^2. Why do you ask? General rule for boats, 55lb - up to 16' boat. 16' to 18...

I-Pilot Back Order (Terrova)
The I-Pilots have been on national back order for some time now, I don't think Minn Kota expected the level of interest. Anyway, I was just in Laurentian Marine and they have a 60" 24v Terrova 80lb US2 with I-Pilot in stock. I think they also have the I-Pilot kit but not sure which model. These...

I would go with the S over the Classic any day. Purely for frame construction. The steel frame reels will not last as well as the alluminum stock. Think about 80-100lb zero stretch line and the reel constantly under stress of casting/trolling not to mention the bone jaring strike of a monster fish. ...

When I fished for carp in the UK, Strawberry was very popular, go to the cake baking section and look for flavourings, Strawberry, Vanilla, aniseed etc. Bait different areas and see what works. You can also try soaking the corn in flavourings too before baiting your stringer. I used to dry out old b...

If there are no markings on the rod, then it's unlikely to be of much value to anyone else but you. If there is no visible damage then take it out and use it. These old split cane rods were hand built and made to be used. They have character that you just don't find in modern rods. Take it out and h...

A bad soldered joint will creat a high resistance connection and drop voltage across it; this in turn creates heat and eventually a fire . A poorly crimped connection will also cause resistance and a drop in voltage.... It will also cause arcing between the connection and the cable , causing even m...

Use the minimum cable required to do the job and I would not solder the connections - Solder joints shouldn't be use where high current is around. Sorry Dude but your giving out terrible advice............ The heavier the cable you use the less resistance = the less heat build up All connections sh...

You're almost there with advice so far, use a short wire to connect the +ve of one battery to the -ve of the other and use the 2 remaining terminals to run to the TM. Use the minimum cable required to do the job and I would not solder the connections - use crimped terminals, a local garage should he...
