Mystery Tackle Box

So, I heard some pretty positive things about Mystery Tackle Box last year and I thought I'd try one out this year. Here's a pic of what they sent me - a variety of rubber crayfish, some hooks to gear them up, a new jig and a crankbait. I never really fish with plastics, so I'm looking forward to gi...

Re: Best Polarized Sunglasses?

Dunno if you're still looking, but I got some from MEC, the brand is Suncloud and they are really good. Covers whole field of vision, they have a material on the nose that becomes more grippy with perspiration (BIG plus for me) and they are reasonably priced - ~$50

Re: brook trout stocking in Ottawa River

But where did they get the trout from in the first place?

Re: Big Rideau Lake favorite forage species - Know your Wate

For what it's worth, Almost all season long you can troll with crankbaits that have perch colours, and also smallmouth bass colourings if you are after pike/musky/walleye and bass on any of the rideau network - they work pretty much year-round.

Re: brook trout stocking in Ottawa River

I wonder how the fishing gods feel about this sort of ritual... Increases their usual catch? Where'd they get the brook trout from? A farm?

Common sense approach. Good point.

Re: Weekend getaway locations

One of my buddies swears by Algonquin Park... You could try Silver Lake/Any of the parks on highway 7, or head to the Kawarthas - Terrific stuff, and a great setting. If you need some kindling for the situation, Kingston is a small town with fishing and also has suitable amenities that might come in...

Re: mystery tackle box

Just as an FYI, a buddy of mine sent me this to show me what he got this month. Not a bad bag if you ask me. I would just still prefer to grab what I want off of the shelf. http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y446/lape0019/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps3c82cf09.jpg Wow, that's a great bag. I hear you a...

Re: Ottawa's getting crowded....

I've noticed the same thing - Bate Island to Westboro used to be fairly quiet, but it's more and more crowded. Forget about weekends. If you kayak, go for it. I spent a lot of last summer in the Kawarthas, and I'll be heading there again in a couple of weeks for some serenity.

Re: sketchy characters

I must be the lucky one. I fish the shores here in Ottawa, and I haven't had too many issues. Never in the East side though, but I was thinking of trying the Rideau around Lees. I mostly fish early or in midday, but I mostly have to contest with people bringing their families to feed the overpopulat...

Re: mystery tackle box

Glad you asked because I just learned about them today and I was thinking about it. They ship the 10th, but it must take a while to get to Canada?

Definitely going to look into it for next year.
