Re: Carp in North America.
Nice! I'm looking forward to go bow hunting for them this year. Apparently if they are cooked right they are tasty. My friends Vietnamese friend eats the ones he shoots.

Re: Help: Shirley's Bay walleye
They're pretty easy to find. I like using a white big-O or 3 inch grub. I catch 90% of them an hour before and an hour after sunset. During the day I find the fishing there tougher for walleye than other stretches of river (constance bay, petrie)

Where to Find Ultra Light Uglystik
Hi all,
I'm looking for an ultra-light uglystik and I've called Sail, LeBaron and a few Canadian Tires with no luck. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?
Thanks,
Mike

Ticks
Hi all, Just wanted to warn everyone who isn't aware that the ticks are horrible this year. I've gotten one and my dog has gotten two. My friend's dog in Bells Corners was diagnosed with Lyme disease last week. I also have a friend who got 4 on the weekend. There were 7 cases reported in Humans in 2...

Re: Opener Question
Agreed that mississippi lake is the best bet. If you're fishing the river be aware of sanctuaries. If you're looking for a good pike lake with the potential for big crappie you could hit up constance lake, however there are no walleye there. Dalhousie Lake is also an option.

Re: Cats in April!!
Sweet!!!! I don't undertake why the average size isn't bigger in the Ottaw . My theorty is there is too many of them, but the cats in the Petawawa in Algonquin Park are the biggest I've ever caught or seen. I'd love to see a shift of more people eating catfish and a strict slot for walleye year rou...

Re: Barbed or Barbless Fishing Hooks
Catch and release: Barbless
Catch and keep (ice fishing, camping weekends): Barbed
No reason for using barbed hooks if you're practicing catch and release unless if you're fishing a competition or tournament.

Great to hear! They'd make a fortune if the patrolled Dow's Lake. I wonder if "No speaka English" works with CO's?

Re: Kick starting the Crappie bite
I had a great day of crappie fishing on saturday on the rideau, landed 15 keeprs. Had a wonderful fish taco dinner with a few friends after, they were delicious. No surprise about Smitty giving good advice, he was a huge help and gave some great advice to me last year.

Re: Trout in Rideau?
There are no trout in the rideau. To be honest I'm surprised they were catching anything on the surface. I would bet they were using sinking flies and catching out of season bass.

Re: Calling all non-powered watercraft fishermen in the area
I'll be there! I mainly fish from a canoe or fish walk and wade style. I do lots of fishing in Algonquin and I'm looking forward to doing more fishing within the city limits.

Black Lake Perth Navionics
Hi all, A question for those with the Navionics App. Scroll to Black Lake near Perth. Which areas would you be hitting for pre-spawn perch this weekend? I'm new to the app and I'm looking forward to hearing some suggestions. I know the lake very well so I tend to get set in my ways about fishing spo...
