Re: Loughborough lake ice

Was out yesterday on 3.5" of ice fishing 70-90 FOW in west end. Screen action at least every 15 minutes. Only one was willing to tangle with me. Friday temps may make weekend fishing iffy.

Re: Lake trout spoon size

A fish finder, a contour map (paper or electronic) and an electric motor (to keep your presentation vertical) are all that are needed IMO. Deep water (>60 feet) humps and troughs are good starting points.

Re: Charter Recomendation

You might want to consider West Lake Willows in the Sandbanks area. I haven't used his service but have read very favourable reports.

Re: Looking for feedback (Small boat and trolling motor?'s)

My advice- get a widebeam squareback canoe... Throw a 4hp motor on and not many places you couldn't go. Stable, fine for solo but also room for the wife, kids for those family outings Welcome back Float!! X2 I had a 16 ft. Scott's Y-stern paired with a 2 HP in Timmins for 15 years and another 5 yea...

Re: Steelhead fly-fishing locations?

There's significantly more fly fishing opportunities on the Salmon River in New York in comparison to Lake O. tribs on this side of the fence.

Re: Salmon River

Sportman's Pool but use the north shore access. From that side you can easily fish from above that pool down to the tail out. Mitch

Re: Port Hope salmon fishing

In August grab yourself some glow in the dark spoons and do some night time pier chucking. Chartreuse or fire tiger rapala J-13 or something similar is my go to as dawn approaches. They are pretty aggressive and will give you the best fight before they enter the river. Couple that up with a decent r...

Re: Where to access upper/lower beverly lake?

the boatlaunch is in the park but on a stretch of moving water. Depending on if and where they plow you might be able to access the lake at the far west end of the park.

Re: Winter Steelhead

Lake Huron or G-Bay tribs are your best bet for Ontario winter drifts. I'll be on the Salmon River until May.

Re: tips for chinooks?

I was fishing east tribs today and there are still a lot of salmon at the stream/river mouth. Unfortunately other than a few small silvers at dawn, none wanted my offerings (roe, jigs and flies).
