Re: Shirley's Bay 2023 Ice season

Nice thing about Manotick Bait is they also sell bags of dead minnows at a cheap price. Since myself, like most, just use the heads, buying 3 or 4 bags of dead minnows normally does me an entire season. I still have a bag or 2 left in my freezer from last winter.

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

Hit Shirley's again yesterday. Fished about 3.5 hrs in 11.8 ft of water. Only 1 sauger landed. Marked several fish over the 3+ hrs, couple of hits but most seemed to have lockjaw. Typical February fishing. Still can't beat a few hrs out on the ice and will be back at it again as soon as possible!!

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

Agreed. To whoever did the plowing, a big thank you. I was thinking that on Saturday night when we arrived. They put some time and energy in to the work. Plowed some roads to the perm huts. Road extends well out to the furthest huts. Made essentially a big looping circle. Looks like some parking are...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

It's fine. Lots of black ice. We had 15+ inches where we drilled well offshore. Nice road plowed all around out there. We drove out on Saturday night. No issue at all. There were cars out there. Small SUV's. The road is a huge help, but in a 4x4 you would have no issue anyway.

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

Thanks for the morning bite information. I also prefer sleeping in, so that settles that!! Evenings haven't failed me yet on Shirley's, so I'll stick with what works! We went out Saturday p.m., fished 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in 11.5 ft of water. Ended up with 14 walleye and sauger and 5 perch. Marked fish ...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

Folks, I have fished Shirley's for several years now. Also followed along on this forum every year when ice season opens. One thing I have noticed is that nobody seems to fish Shirley's at daybreak, including myself. For you more seasoned Shirley's anglers, is there a reason for this besides the col...

Long Island Locks

Hey folks, Just a heads up, Long Island Locks is not accessible anymore from the traditional parking area down by the RCMP campground. I just happened to be out in Manotick, so swung by to see how many folks were out there and well, none. It's all "Private Property" signs, "No Parking...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season

I swung by Shirley's last night just at Sunset. There were a few pop up's out on the ice. A couple were a LONG way out there, little further than I would be comfortable with just yet. 2 trucks on the ice. One about 50, 75 yards offshore, the other probably about 150 yards out.

Re: Ottawa River Reg.

Also, if I recall, QC does not recognize the ONT Conservation License as valid on their side of the Ottawa. A regular license is required. I was told this when I asked about the Ottawa License requirements on the QC a few yrs ago.

Re: Ice conditions and fishing info Muskrat Lake ( Cobden )

I was out on Muskrat today. The upper end of the lake (past Cobden) is mostly open water. At least half the lake, if not more, is open water. We fished at Lily Bay. Ice depth was between 4 and 7.5 inches and I drilled close to 20 holes. Quite a few permanent huts out there out in the deeper water. I...
