I don't mind giving additional info at all. It was the river, I launched from Black rapids lock 13 in the Yak and caught 95% of the fish from the hunt club bridge down to the big bend in the river. I tried fishing the deep hole(30ish feet on the sounder) under the bridge with no luck on deep diving ...

I hit the Rideau on Saturday morning in the rain, I found tons of smallies in the 8 to 12 foot depth range with no Veg, sand or pebble bottom. Xrap and senko's were the key.

I would recommend the Canada Hammer 2 as a starter call, they sound great for the price and I think they are on sale at Cabela's for $14.99 Nothing better than watching these big birds on approach and just rolling them over !! Thanks for the input guys, it is making the decision easier ! Just towing the boat there is going to pay for the gas for the entire trip (Cost move with the CF) so that also helps !

I have a 16 ft double eagle with a 85 hp and 9.9 kicker, It is the idea rig for out here (Van island) but i am feeling it may not be the best rig for in and around Ottawa. Trips to the big lake will be few and far between. I am really only thinking about keeping her for sea duck hunting on the east ...

Rigger fishing for Lakers ?
Hey as some of you know, I will be moving into the area later in the summer. There is no need to name lakes or give GPS Cord's, But how close is this style of fishing to the Ottawa area ?? I am torn between selling my west coast setup or keeping the boat and dragging it with me. Any input would help...
