Re: Golden lake/Barry’s Bay
No problem. Many good lakes up there. Also That area has Algonquin park. Some good fishing there as well. Also I did not mention it, but also the Bonnechere river between Traymore and Golden Lake has many good spots for pike, bass, panfish and perch.

Re: Golden lake/Barry’s Bay
When I did ice fish Golden Lake, it was at the shoal that was off the united church camp at Deacon. Access for us was from our cottage. Public could get access from the road stop across from the restaurant in Deacon. Problem is most good fishing is a ways out from shore.

Spring Fish
Getting geared up to get out and do some spring fishing, once the ice is cleared. been doing a lot of youtube research, but it fell really different this season.
Maybe it is just me, but with these restrictions and all, just does not feel like a normal year.

Re: Bonnechere River
south of round lake dam i have had luck with bass and pike. There was a spot to put in a boat at the Tramore bridge on tramore road. this is south of the dam. It is a tricky river at times. Also on hyw 60 at Deacon, there is an old bridge and boat launch. good spot for pike. I have shore fished here...

Re: Rideau Canal
I got the info I was looking for right from parks Canada. will pass it on here for others.
Thanks for your inquiry, the Historic Canals Regulations state that fishing is not permitted within 10 metres of a lock or approach wharf or fishing from a bridge over a navigation channel.

Rideau Canal
Quick question, and sorry if I asked it before.
I am looking at exploring it or shore fishing, and I was wondering how close are you allowed to fish at the locks?
I am looking at Burritts rapids, Smith Falls, Merickvill and Ottawa itself up to Dowes lake.
Thanks

I keep hearing about Seaguar line. I use just straight mono line. Is the carbon better? I do catch the odd pike and pickerel in our river. Just curious
