Re: Silent Lake Provincial Park August 2018
Thanks for this info about Silent Lake and the great pictures. Bought a mini tent trailer this summer and looking for new places to enjoy it. With fishing, swimming, hiking and biking all in a beautiful setting it's definitely on the list. Our usual destination is Bon Echo. I snorkel around at vario...

Any fish in the Quyon River?
Family member bought a property on the Quyon river north of the 148. Any fish in it? Looks fast and shallow.

Re: instal a motor on yak
When I had my 14 ft pointed Sportspal I found rowing the best option. Sitting in the middle, the weight is evenly distributed, you have great control of the boat, two short oars and related hardware is a light propulsion package! You also have both ends of the canoe for all your stuff. Ok both hands...

Re: Sportspal Mod Advice
Your sportspal looks great, professional job. It's satisfying when you can do your own mods and enjoy them, it's as fun as using the boat. I fixed up my old 14 ft aluminum with a new transom etc and used flat grey Tremclad on the inside, it's holding up well. I can get over to Shirley's bay from Ayl...

Re: Sportspal Mod Advice
Got out on Lac Deschenes today and caught 3 small small mouths. Trolled with the oars around Shirley's bay and west of Aylmer Island. Not a great fishing day but fantastic weather. Took the carburetor restrictor plate out of the Mercury 2.2 and got it up to 16km per hour!

Re: Sportspal Mod Advice
20170515_190619.jpg I didn't have to do anything to the sponsons; just push them down a bit out of the way. I remember having to drill out the rivets that held the original oarlocks, the new ones have four holes so I had to drill. I purchased the hardware at the Chandlery in Ottawa and picked up so...

Re: Sportspal Mod Advice
I've had Sportspals for several years, started with a 14 ft pointed, I sold that and bought a used 14 transom. I also have a wide 14 ft aluminum but use the Sportspal more often just because it's easier! I upgraded the oarlocks and oar pins and constructed a mini Adirondack chair to row with some ba...

Re: Fall fishing? 'S.O.S
New to this forum; I too usually struggle to catch anything in the fall on the Ottawa (lac Deschenes). I was out last week during the day trolling around for over three hours before I finally caught a reasonable small mouth near Aylmer island. I had tied a floating yellow jig head and worm to a foot...
