Now as for the driving force, one of the responses I got back said that the initiative is supported by anglers groups such as muskies canada, and that FMZ 18 is being used to determine the impact of the new regulation.
Exactly ......MCI did dot lobby for it , did not bring it forth to the MNR and did not create guidelines for minnow sizes.
And I 'm that MCI was NOT contacted re the minnow size.
The NEC of MCI has to run a poll thru the membership of the NeC for exactly this and I'm on it and have not heard a single thing about it.
So, I don't know where you got your info from but it is incorrect.
"Future Changes: Since the inception of Muskies Canada in Ontario, the fishing regulations with respect to muskellunge have been changed to increase keep size limits, reduce possession numbers and alter season lengths - all to the betterment of muskie populations and sport fishing in general. We should not stop at this point. Avid anglers should consider/discuss possible future changes that may benefit wild muskellunge stocks. Items for consideration include legislating the number of hook points and other gear resctrictions, tournaments, use of live bait over a certain size, or even access to to muskie fisheries."
The above is word for word from the Muskies Canada "Release Journal" with the live bait size issue hilited in bold. I have no idea if MCI were the ones who lobbied the MNR for this ridiculous regulation....but they certainly appear as if they support it....and other excessive regulations. Go ahead (Matt/Richard) and call me a liar and I will prove it to everyone here and now!!!

They weren't...so what are you going to prove?
That you hate MCI and you will do and say whatever you wish to discredit it.
funny how you interprit words like consider and possible as actually having done it.
We know that Chris , since the day you took your ball and went home leaving the RJ high and dry....funny how you interprit words like "consider" and "possible" as actually having done it.
Heres a suggestion for you/.......why don't you start a special intrest group that discredits special intrest groups.
This will be my 3rd year in Muskies Canada, to me its a great club with a lot of skilled and helpfull members. As from what I have seen and heard in the past few years it only does good for Muskies. Any thing that can helps preserve our fisheries be it Muskies or not, is a good thing.
Our government doesn't have a good track record of looking out for any type of fisheries. Look at the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the mess they let happen on the east coast with the Cod stocks
Everyone has an opinion on everything, hell I could rant about a thousand things here but thats not what this site is about. Its about fishing... not bashing people, members or clubs.
I'll lock this for now and if Bobber thinks it should be left open he can unlock it
