Fordson is new to muskie fishing. He went to a site he thought was reasonable to approximate weight and girth. He has stated this several times.
Did he make a mistake in giving the wrong weight to a journalist..yes.
Did he maybe believe he was right based on a muskie/weight website..yes
Is he only human...yes
I guess we can't all be as saintly as you! Have you ever made a mistake buddy?
Sheeeesh get over it already!
I think you'll find that is what he did. He admited where he got the info and he thought it was reasoanble. Which it turns out it is not. I think he gets the point.
There may be more to this, there may not.
All I am saying is I think YOU are getting way too worked up and should drop it.
Yes i have , and when i made a mistake , and someone told me about it , i didnt go on a rant how i am right . I admit my mistake and say im sorry and listen to the people correcting me.
Your right i am sorry

Sorry about the accusations , it was a great fish and if it survived , great.Maybe buy those disposable camers before going on a trip.fordson wrote:Thanks for the support for those of you who have done so.
I posted those two sites this morning but I'd gone to about 8 the day after I caught that fish (I was still very excited).
I don't dispute that the fish may have been less than 62. The point I was trying to make bass...guy is that I didn't try and be dishonest about it.
As far as your concern about releasing the fish alive, etc. I invested in several hundred dollars of equipment this year precisely in order to protect the fish. I've said it before. I'd never harm something like this animal.
I was humbled, grateful, and in awe of it.
I hope the article helps promote catch and release. If that happens, bonus.
Having caught a 46-48 inch muskie on my first outing was great, i could not even imagin a 50 +.
We are lucky men to have caught these fish.
Sorry about the whole thing , maybe we should have a beer and discuss the catching and releasing of our monsters.

Well, most of you sound like a bunch of jealous women whose panties are in a twist. Regardless of what the fish weighed, don't be so jealous that he got his name in the paper...Woo Hoo....Now get over it!
Seriously, who is this guy always saying if you want to learn something you MUST come to an MCI meeting...Why, so we could all hang out with jealous know-it-alls who must criticize at every opportunity? Because MCI is the only place to learn how to fish for muskies? Isn't that why we are here?
In any case, nice fish, 62 lbs may be a little high..But who cares??? Apparently the jealous ones here do, but I'm a little more relaxed than these guys.
Time to chill and enjoy the fish for what it was...A NICE FISH...
Now, untwist those panties there fellas!

I hope the lack of responses is because people are writing and proof-reading their entries...Seriously?
For those of you who are too cool or think you have secrets you have some real issues...seriously.....If you can't even discuss what tactics you use why even come on the website?
Man, some people here are small schoolbus special I guess.......I know which ones....."
I think you are thre wrong person for your response , i remember your thread on fall muskie discussion , no one replied in 15 minutes you cried like a girl in her periods. So i think you should keep hush hush on this one "Wannabe"

Nice fish Fordson.
Used to think this was a great site.
Been on here for about a year and have come to think
after some recent comments the last few months about peoples
fish that there are a few Cyber Fish Geeks on here who ruin this
site for everybody. Have talked to a few others about this and they agree.
People act like man.

I agree with jamsers here..Jamsers wrote:Wannabe,
I think this is something that may have gotten out of hand. However, don't trash MCI. You are stereotyping here.
C'mon now!

I don't think trashing MCI is the appropriate way to proceed. I'm not a member and most likely will never become a member, but I have to assume that the organization is about beeing knowledgeable in the sport of musky fishing, and definitely helps raise awareness which is something needed for our great past time no matter which species.

thats what the site has been since the beggining , even 2 years ago , people complain about everything, if you didnt properly handle a fish , etc.thundercraft wrote:Nice fish Fordson.

People are disrespectful .
I have made some comments and apologized.
Nobody is perfect

But this site will never change
For the post about how I measured it...
I have a measuring tape on my 'fish-lipper'. I Measured the length carefully. I've caught a 43, 47, 49, and 54 which all but the 47 have been posted on this site in the gallery.
I didn't measure the girth because I wanted to get it back in the water after the pictures. Also, I was by myself and she was so big and FAT that I had a hard time handling her.
Hope this helps,
For those who care, and obviously I do, I won't tell the weight again until I get an accurate scale myself. Then hopefully it won't be a problem.
Honestly though, ISN'T THAT MUSKY THE SEXIEST THING ON THE PAGE?
HAHAH

Don't get me wrong...I think the work MCI has done is great and I am totally in favour of having a national organization who is trying to preserve or best game fish. What I don't like is how if anyone asks a question, the first response is to go to an MCI meeting. Why not just share the info here? That's my only beef.
In any case, I'm not on my period this month so no worries....I guess the same can't be said for some of the others....
LA LA LA...
Seriously though...Am I the only one getting a laugh out of this? I know all the guys I know on this site are because I keep getting PM's about how funny it is...Hey...PM's...Not far from PMS...Coincidence? I think not!
