Biggest thing I have ever caught a muskie on

That being said, spent the entire fall this year trolling lures 12 - 15 inches long and wound up with nothing to show.
I have caught some fish on baits over 12" but the vast majority of my fish have come on baits 8 or 10 inches.
Believe it or not probably 90% of fish 48 inches or better in my boat have been on 8 inch baits. 2 over fifty on 6 inch baits.

I was one of if not the first guys to use big lures around here. I had a friend make me a 15 inch Jake. You should of seen the looks on the guys faces when they saw that thing handed to me. Well on it's first pass it caught a fat 49 and the next weekend on its first pass again it got a 55 x 26 near 50 pound fish and a few weeks later I won my first MCI outing with a 51.5 on that same lure. If you do the math that 15 inch lure caught 3 fish averaging 51.5 inches that first fall. This might be the reason I have a box full of oversized lures some 10 years later.
Like George mentions some areas like St-Clair and the St-Lawrence where guys do great on 8 inch lures in late fall where I would never use one that small on the Ottawa.
As for 13 inch believers I don't do so well on them, I catch a tonne of big fish on the 10 inch Believers but do a lot better with the 12 inch plows in late fall.
