It is very difficult to determine who's scat it is.
It is as Markus suggests canine for sure.
The eastern wolf is a coyote / North eastern wolf cross, and is a mid size between coyote and a true Timber Wolf.
A coyote is a nuisance in urban areas, as it will stalk and take cats and small dogs.
A timber wolf is much more selective and often confused for such events.
For the record I have the scars to prove I am familiar with these critters.
Had the pleasure of partaking collaring wolves with Parks Canada as a younger man.
