Hey Guys,
Shot my first bird today....started the day off late at 6am when I saw a decent sized Tom strutting for a hen as I pulled into the property I hunt. I parked and snuck around across the drive way and set up...immediately the hen ran over to my decoys then moved to the tree i was sitting under and literally jumped over my legs clucking around and around the tree...as you can imagine my heart was thumping out of my chest......I was hoping the tom would follow but he eneded up gobbling his face off about 20 yards behind me for an hour but was hung up because of a small swamp between me and him....I ended up leaving around 9:30 and went for some eats.....came back at noon and hunted the same area for a good while with not a sound so I moved to another location at 3:30 that I saw a tonne of tracks early in the week and actually chased a big tom out by accident. On my way in i saw a hen on the left side of the road and another bird in some cedars on the right that I couldnt tell what it was....so i walked about 100 yards up and worked the fence line setting up under a nice sized pine tree....set up my hen decoy had a smoke and let things calm a bit....a 4 wheeler ripped past me which i wasnt too happy about and within a few minutes I did a call on my glass call followed by a few clucks with my diaphram....no longer then 1 minute after I heard the fence rattle behind me and the big dude walked 15 yards to the left of me when I ripped into him with my Spitfire Gobbler Getter braod head....
Weighed her on 2 different scales one read 23 and the other 23.25 lbs... 9.5 inch beard, definately makes my X cal bow look small
Ive been on here since 2005 and gave up on trying to post pictures...im def not a computer person....
