Want to buy my first yak - recommendations

Looking in to getting a good budget friendly fishing specific kayak. Not trying to break the bank (would like to be in under a grand for a boat, pfd and paddle). I've seen http://www.pelicansport.com/en/products ... 20x-angler and seems to be a nice, feature rich boat for the price tag. Anybody have one and can share their thoughts on it? Any suggestions for other kayaks to consider?

The 120 is a good yak for the price.
But if I was you I would take a look a jendas paddle sports used/demo section. All his demo boats are still in great shape.

There is a lot of variables except one in my opinion: get the best seat you can afford.

I've been looking into a nice fishing kayak this past winter. Currently have a pelican 10 foot which works well, BUT after 2 hours in the seat your legs go numb.

Also the other thing to consider is the weight. Bass Pro has a sit on top with a good seat that weights in at 100 pounds. Yikes! price is 650 US

Perception Pescador Pro 120 Kayak which is the lightest at 64 pounds, also a great seat , looks great (very sharp) and takes up to a 350 pound fisherman. This one is made in the USA. Price is 999 Cdn. Find it at Sail here in Ottawa,

There's only One ultimate human powered fishing craft. Hobie Mirage Drive Pro Angler !
Lots of new peddle drive models out, but still feel the back and forth motion of a mirage drive is superior to
circular motion, easier on the back too. Hobie has a new economical model for 2018, the Compass, might be worth checking out.

Check the store at Fairlawn plaza.
Bought a Wilderness Atak 140 beginning of November last year, 1/2 price new. I think it was reg.22000n for $1100.
From what I have seen, best seat going. Might be more than you want to spend but half price was a great deal for me.
My wife likes this boat for cruising around when we are camping with one of her nephews in the back.
I like it for fishing down south in Charlotte Harbour.
Lots of room and easy to paddle.

Sail puts all their kayaks at 15% off every spring, that is where I got my Pelican Catch 120 and the Pelican Catch 100, Fantastic fishing kayaks, seats that keep you comfortable and won't kill back and numb your legs after a few hours. Pescodore is also nice but I went with Pelican as it is Canadian made.

The Paddle Shack (Trailhead) has a quarry near Ottawa that they let you try out their kayaks. I bought one of their Jackson Liska Demo Kayak on sale at the end of the season.

One thing I cannot say enough, get a seat that is comfortable to sit on. If you want to fish often, for hours at a time and enjoy yourself, then a good seat is essential! Some of those cheaper kayaks will chafe your butt, no if's, ands, or butts!
